Re: Baby Boomers: What was your favorite penny candy?

I loved the foil wrapped coins in the little net pouch.

We used to pretend the flying saucer candy was communion. After we would drink the liquid from the wax bottles, we would chew on the wax. LOL

black licorice and Atomic fireballs for me too.

We had a penny candy store within walking distance and a few times during the summer we would be given a dime to go to the candy store. The only rule was we couldn't make all our choices bubblegum. I loved the sour grape and sour apple bubblegums!

During Halloween time there would be wax fingernails, mustaches and lips. We would chew them and there would good util you took a drink of water. Then they would crumble.

when was it a penny? maybe i am forgetting, but i recall buying candies at 5 cents. my favorites were always sour balls and lemonheads.

The VERY small village I grew up in the 50's, had penny candy (individual pieces) wrapped. Candy bars were 5 cents each or 6 for a quarter! These were full size too! My friends and I took turns "treating" each other. {#emotions_dlg.laugh} Those were the days.

Is this what you're talking about? I loved them, too.

I still love those Goetze's caramels. And I used to buy Mint Juleps and Banana Beich's little taffy squares that were 2 for a penny.
