BRITS OBSERVING V-E DAY CEREMONIES

Royals assembled in Britain in front of huge crowds to celebrate the anniversary of V-E Day  ( Victory in Europe) which first occurred when the Germans surrendered to the Allies on May 8, 1945.

Nice to see the recovering Princess of Wales and King Charles turning out and looking in good spirits--

Fun to see the gent behind King Charles--  89 year old Prince Edward, Duke of Kent.  He was the first cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II, and has had quite a military career himself, in Hong Kong and elsewhere.

The Queen had to help foil a kidnapping plot devised for him at one point.  He worked closely with other members of the family and often subbed for the Queen when she couldn't make events.

Love this photo--  respect for what the elders did, teaching the little ones about it....

I was struck by that too, @Etoile308 --  she was smiling so happily throughout.  Good to see.

And a certain person's antics might have furthered that...

Wonderful pictures! I can't help but notice how much Princess Charlotte looks like her Grandmother.

[ Edited ]

I watched it a great deal yesterday and was so amazed that in the UK there are only 31 veterans left living from that day 80 years ago.

Little Louie watching his big brother George push back his bangs from his head then he had to do it as well.  Touched my heart to see a little brother in awe of the older brother.  It was a great day yesterday and so proud of all.
