I guess it was about the wedding, not the marriage. If people had paid $1500 to attend (foolish if they did), the couple would most likely be divorced in a few years. 

If the woman really wanted to be married, she would go with a wedding she could afford. As others said, the guy dodged a bullet.

I would have paid IF it came along with a front row ticket to the divorce proceedings, which I predict would have occured less than a year in....when this dopey moron discovered that life is not a non stop bash wedding, five inch fake nails, ridiculous fake eyelashes and an expensive cake....

The first time she saw hubby cutting his toenails she would have gone berserk. Or lost her mind if he forgot the Poo Pouri....

I wish they'd make a reality teevee show called One Year After, when all these princesses we see on these stupid shows primping for their upcoming wedding realize what life really is...

( My current fave "garbage can contents on teevee" is "Love aftet/during Lockup" ..while I'm waiting for Dateline or 48 Hours to start.......dummies who engage or marry felons with no job, no prospects, no teeth, tattoos all over thier faces and necks, gang bangers who latch on to these bovinely stupid ,mostly women, who throw thier lives, and thier kids in some cases,  away because their so desperate for a man ..)

And yes I know it's all fake.

But it's where these ideas like this "pay to attend the wedding" hatch. It HAS to be for this garbage to still be on the air after years, with new shows each season....

This story or maybe it was another wedding came out several years ago.  Nothing new for some Bridezillas.

This is not the first time I had heard this story.  Unless it was a different bridezilla, I believe that this story has been around for a few years.

It's also hard to believe that any of the guests actually did give her a check for that much!

I think I've heard 4 or 5 iterations of this story over the years and it's become an urban legend. Like cat litter boxes in schools.

If someone is good enough to be invited to a bridal shower and bring a gift, then they are good enough to be invited to the wedding.  Extremely poor taste if only invited to a shower.

@Trinity11    My daughter and husband attended a destination wedding the week before Christmas.  The grandparents were asked to watch the kids for the 4 day event.  I personally think it is a lot to ask and expect from anyone.   Plus the expense of a flight, hotel and food is extravagant in my opinion.  They didn't have an "entrance fee"...but a destination wedding is something I would have to decline.
