I do none of those quizzes on FB and I get at least 2 if not more a day. First of all, I don't care what type of fruit I am and second of all, I know they a looking for information on me.

Very true. I always wonder when I see ""how's the weather where you are"" or other such threads that can be used to identify. I tell way too much I know. But what's done is done.

Eliminate all postings about personal problems, situations, experiences, etc., and see how interesting this BB will become. We already can't talk about the really interesting and important issues of our time, and that is proven because when one gets through, there are immediately multiple posts to it. Same is true of the personal postings.
I have in the past posted about personal things only to find them thrown in my face in the worst possible way. I have not posted about anything personal in many, many weeks, and don't plan to in the future.
That leaves us with host bashing, SG, JR, Wen, product complaints, food, weather (although even that is personal?) pets, movies and TV shows, and thousands of "cute" photos and YouTube videos. Thanks . . . but I was already 16 a long time ago, 60 years to be exact . . . or is that too personal?

Why so touchy Ford?
One can share info anonymously with strangers on a board with millions of viewers without giving away their birth dates, their children's names, their photos or photos of their children and grandchildren, their home town, the schools they attended and on and on. It can be done.

Exactly. If someone is collecting data, the info shared here by some is far more extensive than what is shared in an online quiz.

that is not accurate. according to the posted articles. they put data on our computer. and obtain personal data from our computers. even ip addresses. think of what is stored on our computer. fellow posters cannot do this. and in addition the quizzes serve us no purpose. to each her and his own. not worth it for me to give up permission for a quizz with no meaning. I can't speak for anyone else but the few quizzes I've taken have not asked for any personal info. I've been asked to choose which dessert I would like or my favorite puppy. I'm careful of my online security but I refuse to become paranoid.

I don't want to debate the dangers of giving too much info here. Suffice it to say, it's not a good idea to say too much. Which obviously I am guilty of.
Since I don't do Facebook, I don't think the quizzes I took here are any big deal. I won't do them in the future however and have told my girls not to do them on Facebook.
My final thought is this. Your info is never totally safe on the internet no matter what anybody thinks. Every so often some new breach is reported. Those are just the ones which are reported. The only way around it is to not use it at all.
I am as careful as I can be and then I just don't worry a lot about it.
