School board in my town is receiving calls from parents who are against having "Atlas Shrugged" on the assigned autumn reading list at the high school level. Parents feel it promotes atheism, and would rather their children be given an optional book to read. Did you have to read any of Ms. Rand's novels in school? Do you think the students should be assigned "Atlas Shrugged"?
I was assigned this reading in a Political Science class during my college years. Didn't feel I was adversely affected by reading and discussing this book. Since I am not a parent, I would be interested in hearing other's views.
