I actually nearly started an Avon thread a few days ago, so I'm glad I found this one!

I've been using some Avon products on and off for years. But Avon has certainly changed! I recently ordered earrings and 2 waterproof Glimmersticks eyeliners for summer. A rep in my area had emailed me a code for free shipping, so I went to their website to place my order. It wouldn't take the code, so I called Avon and the person I spoke to said the code I was sent was not for free shipping - It was for 20% off after spending a certain amount (more than I was spending). I told her that the email was clearly an Avon email and specifically stated free shipping, and I offered to forward it to her, but she said she didn't have email there. So I placed the order, and emailed my rep to let her know. To this day, more than two weeks later, she has not responded.

I received the order, and one of the earrings was broken. Yesterday I opened one of the Glimmersticks, and a large piece of it snapped off. So instead of the tapered end, I have a large uneven chunk. I have been using Glimmersticks for a long time, and this never happened before. So tomorrow I'm going to call - and yes, it's not a lot of money, but so far 2 out of the 3 things I ordered have a problem, and that's not acceptable to me.

Before I found this particular rep (who has turned out to be useless), I had called Avon & asked if they could send me a catalog. They told me that they don't do that. I had to find a rep on their website. I found 3, none of whom responded to me. The 4th told me that I live too far away (we're less than 10 minutes apart). It was unbelievable how much effort I had to put into getting a catalog!

This company does not seem at all to be the way it once was.

NYC Susan-wow, sorry about your bad experience. I don't understand the reps who don't respond to you, or the one that is less than 10 minutes from you. Guess they don't want your business-how rude.

Chrystaltree-I just tried the new makeup setting spray this a.m. and I Love it!

Thanks! I sold Tupperware (a long time ago), and if someone expressed an interest, I was right on it! :-)

My latest issue is that if I go to the Avon site, it automatically puts me on the page of a rep I would rather not give my business to. I called Avon, and they said I can't order anything unless I have a rep and they have no idea how to switch me to another one. Really, really unbelievable!

I'm sorry to hear you're having so much trouble finding an Avon rep in your area. The way I found mine was google Avon rep and then added my city name. The rep that came up really wanted the business and I have had her since.

You could also go back to Avon.com Find a Representative and key in your name & address and go through the list they give you to find another rep willing to take you on as a customer.

Good luck again.

Avon is now sold in flea markets everywhere. That is where I buy anything I may need.

Don't worry, be Happy!

Thanks, but finding a rep is not really the issue. I found several, exactly in the ways you explained, and I contacted each rep on a long list. Avon really needs to de-activate reps who are no longer interested in selling because most of the ones I contacted never responded to me at all. And the ones that did are only half-interested. I just found a nice lady at my country club who sells Avon, but at this point I'm just not all that inclined to buy anymore.

The quality of the products and the very poor Customer Service (not just the reps, but the people I've spoken to at Avon) have given me a very different feeling about this company than I ever had before. Two out of the three things I ordered were defective, they argued with me about a very clearly-worded discount code offer, etc.

As it stands now, everything I order online will be credited to a rep who never even provided me with a catalog. No one at Avon seems to know how I can change online to another rep. This has all been way too much work and aggravation, and customer satisfaction is clearly not a priority for them. It's a shame because they had two or three products that I liked and had used for years.

Thanks for your help! I do appreciate it!

It's interesting that you say that. I recently attended a beach fundraiser, and they had a small flea market. I'm not a fan of flea markets in general, but I did notice an Avon table. So of course I took a look. Unfortunately, they didn't have the items that I use. And now I'm glad since there would have been no way to return anything that was defective. (This was just a temporary flea market - I guess it's different with more permanent ones.)

I have always been a huge fan of Avon! I've had an Avon lady on and off for the past 40 years. My last one retired about 2 years ago and now I just order on-line. I've gotten terrific service with my on-line orders. In fact, I prefer to order myself than wait twice as long to receive my items with a rep. If you're ever looking for any promo offers just do a Google search and tons will show up! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

When I buy from Avon, it tends to be seasonal decorations for the home or jewelry.

My most recent purchase was this set.
