Re: Austria Plans to Re-open Post-Virus

The Need for Balance

Dr. Anthony Fauci, said recently that while public health is his top priority, keeping society and the economy on total lockdown for too long would have unintended negative consequences.

How to strike an appropriate balance, Fauci said, is a question being considered by countries around the world as the coronavirus continues to spread.

"People are dependent on supply chains for nutrition, for food. They might starve. People have illnesses. If you dramatically interrupt that to the point where it no longer exists, the disruption of society can be really quite catastrophic. We need to make sure we keep our eye on the balance."

@Kachina624  I have been reading articles on wearing masks. Three interesting articles that you might want to look at.....Should We All Wear Face Masks? In popsci.com.....The Atlantic.com. Everyone Thinks They’re Right About Masks......Forbes.com

Should Everyone Wear A Mask In Public? Maybe- But It’s Complicated

Some have trouble looking at the bigger picture, they are only concerned with one aspect or what concerns them.  There needs to be a balance for the greater good.

Someday, when scientists discover the center of the Universe....some people will be disappointed it is not them.

Re: Austria Plans to Re-open Post-Virus

The greater good is a healthy population, and I would say the second thing would be knowing who already has had the virus. Since we have only tested 1% of the population right now we don't have a clue.

I would not be comfortable sending children back to school as an example until we are in a much better situation.  In the meantime there are a whole lot of people still working, manufacturing, grocery stores pharmacies banking many many businesses. It is thought we may have a 10% unemployment rate right now. That means 90% are working.
