Hi Birding Friends, This week is speeding by, again, like all the others seem to. Been keeping kind of busy, checking in with DD, GDs and my brother to keep up a bit more with what's going on at home. I found out this evening that a liquor store about a mile down the road from our home, was vandalized and looted. I hadn't thought the mobs were that close to home, but DD said they are randomly hittiing places in the North County area.
I will cut this short as I just deleted most of my "rant" about home. Have a lovely rest of your evening and a nice Friday. Then we are at another weekend already. WOW!
Waving to all Birding Friends, Take care and be safe.

Possummink - the ducks are adorable. I was so hoping that Fred and Ethel (my duck visitors) would maybe bring their kids by when they got old enough, but that didn't happen.
I am thrilled to bits that a baby bunny has been visiting my yard over the past two weeks. And I'm gonna be a bird grandmama - my outside sparrow couple that lost their first baby to a grackle on Memorial Day and their second baby to cold weather and premature fledge after Father's Day have two kids.
Personally, my sparrows usually don't have kids this late in the summer but I've seen the two kids and they are healthy and screamers. I've peered into the birdhouse more than once to make sure they were in there. They tolerate me pretty well - they just see this green eye looking at them and probably think WHOA.
I haven't been following the news, so I need to look up what it happening in your neck of the woods back home. I was born in the City of Detroit and was 5 during the riots of '67 so I can appreciate being worried about civil unrest.
Thanks for the pic of the safflower - what a pretty bloom.

Had to chuckle Possum - that pix of the black cat glaring is Miss Blackie for sure. She is a sweetheart BUT very territorial and hisses and bats at anything - two or four legged - that she feels is intruding. LOL. Love the pix. Mr. Stripes has been super independent but I have not gone insane worrying about him. He spent the night in last night - first time in about a week. Of course he is here first thing in the a.m. for his fresh bowl of food. Darn cat!! He seems to love sleeping elsewhere - suspect it is wher he can find peace and quiet.
While the temps have not been as high as what we did have, the humidity has been horrible. Had a very hard time breathing yesterday and when that happens it sure slows me down. I was wet just sitting inside the house about 8 or something in the evening - took a few steps and the sweating began. Hate that. And yes, had the AC on. Today and tomorrow more of the same is perdicted. My brother called from up in the mountains gloating because their temps were just heavenly. Course he will freeze when winter comes. I could not stand living up there in cold weather. Brrr. Worse yet to drive in, chains required a lot of the time.
Have two extra loads to wasch this morning - one is sheets and the other is a handful of cloahtes for Davey. He either has nothing in the wash or they all show up at once. LOL.
Hope all have a great day. Pigeons are abundant again. My oh my.

We had 6 inches of rain and flooding and all sorts of mess earlier in the week. Wish I could have sent 4 inches of it to CA.

Hi Birding Friends, Two days in a row of morning or early afternoon thunderbumpers and nice rains. Of course that shoots the humidity higher, but it's high here anyway. Just wish the temps would fall out of the 90ies into the low 70ies, that would rock!!
More looting occurred back at home last night. Many of the looters are not from the immediate area of the shooting, and the local people are trying to protect the businesses and properties. Many volunteers from the St. Louis County area are coming in to clean up and repair the businesses ect. that the criminal looters are trashing. Others are bringing food and water to the press, police, first responders, etc.
The police were ordered to stand down last night at a market that was being looted. That's crazy as the guy's insurance won't cover his losses from the theft of his products. Cindy, my daughter, said that it was the Governor who issued that "stand down" order, so the County Police, left. To me, that's letting lawbreakers have their way. Chicken way out, rather than stop them. Local people came in and blocked the looters after a while. What a crazy mess and crazy country we have now. Even one of the Iranian ayatollahs commented on the problems in Ferguson.
Winifred, The clothes line is what I wish I had down here to hang the kids clothes on. I think the heat outside would dry them faster than the dryer and I love the scent of line dried, sun-kissed clothes, sheets and towels especially. I hope you are taking it easy with that heat and the humidity causing you so much trouble breathing. Do you use an inhaler or a bronchial dilator??? My GS has one, just in case, he has a breathing difficulty episode. He's kind of outgrowing them, but now and then he has a bad one.
Birdmama, It's been raining at home, but not like you got. I wish it had thunderstormed at home last night to prevent ?? more looting and burning down a Domino's Pizza place. The looters already burned down a Quick Trip gas station.
It's cool that you are able to check on the baby birds without upsetting the parents too much. I think they know you are their guardian angel. I am guessing they'll be fully fledged before the cooler Autumn weather sets in . I have been reading about how cool it is in the upper East and that West Virginia has been unseasonably cool, if not cold lately. Wish they could shift some of that 'unseasonably' down here.
Many years back, before all the construction in our area, we would get the tiny kinglets to visit the feeders. I remember the ruby crowned kinglet in particular. Sweet little birds.
Mousie, How soon is DD leaving for college? Two of my GSs are starting back to school here this coming week The oldest moves back into his dorm on Friday and his classes start the following week. DDIL has been busy getting tuition taken care of, buying books( a small fortune) and getting supplies etc. Plus, she had to work this weekend.
Puddles, Hope you are doing really well. Did Snow White get the pink bow for her hair?? What do they do to her or for her when she goes to the groomers? I never have taken one of my cats to a "beauty salon" but I did take our Miniature Schnauzers to be clipped, bathed and groomed. They loved it and strutted around afterward like they were in a beauty pageant. They got bows and sometimes, neck scarves. They looked so cute and they KNEW it!!!
Meuw, Thinking about you and Ron. Hope you are doing well. I have some cool photos for Abbysinian kitties that I found on Pintrest.
Waving to all Birding Friends, Got DS's white dress shirts in dryer along with GS's dress shirts from work. Need to hang them before the dryer stops.
Have a nice rest of your Saturday. Be safe.

Just stopping by to wish all my birding friends a happy Sunday.
possummink, Snow White doesn't like to be in water, so I take her to our local groomer and she bathes, blow dries and makes her smell so sweet. For some reason, she loves going there. We did treat her to a ribbon in her hair and she's still got it in. I'm thinking the reason she doesn't like water is that she was abandoned on a day when we were having a torrential downpour.
Waving to Bird mama, mousiegirl, Winifred and all our birding friends.
