@Nonametoday - I didn't know this. I did know he proposed to Cindy while he was still married, which meant the two of them pursued a relationship while he was married.

Imperfect lives well lived by imperfect people.  The women in this family lived a bit better than the men, fortunate they were and are.

she is talking about the younger john mccain. carol was his first wife. according to quotes i have read it really had nothing to do with her disability, but more to do with mccain turning 40 and wanting to roam. carol actually did campaign for him when he ran for political office.

John McCain was married when he became a POW.  Shortly after he was released he became involved with Cindy, who became his second wife.  Nancy Reagan forever afterwards refused to help John's career ( the Reagan's had been friends prior to the remarriage ).  Cindy is the heiress to a large family fortune. Obviously John and Cindy had a long, successful marriage.
