@Sooner   The rest of the real world is managing a whole lot better than we are even with pretty bad problems.

No one ever said this would or could be forever but it appears to be a race to see which state can climb the highest the fastest right now. The idea was to slow things.

Maybe the country really is filled with enough people who don’t care or who think they are immune to all bad things or that it will magically disappear. I can’t begin to comprehend what would cause anyone to practice such devestatingly risky behaviors. Oh, it is all a conspiracy. Maybe that is why... Fake news? Goodness knows, we have all heard the “facts” change overnight like fairy dust.

It might be a good strategy on a national level to have at least one sector of the country fairly clean with extensive testing, rapid response contact tracing, and the like so that as other areas deal with spikes and massive death rates, we have one section of the country working and maybe carrying the remainder of the country economically.  This is possible only if you keep infected people out.

I am a Washingtonian, and our governor informed us during his update late this afternoon, that Washington was added erroneously to that list, and that we will not be required to quarantine upon entering those states. We are however, mandated to wear masks in any public space, and outdoor space here in Washington, where social distancing cannot be maintained.

I am still leery of any kind of domestic or international travel right now, especially because of the alarming new statistics.😊

You do know there were other states with even higher new cases yesterday....don't you?

Upwards of 7,000 new cases in one day.

Last I heard, the European Union is considering banning all visitors from the U.S.  Loss of tourist dollars, to be sure, but

they are alarmed at what is happening in our country.  I am, too.  I know all we went through in our little state.  We worked very hard and made many sacrifices here.  Our numbers are way down, but we lost over 4,000 souls in the process.

The EU continues to have its own Covid problems.  Not sure why any American "who worked hard and made many scarifices here" would even want to risk traveling there for the foreseeable future.

@vsm, I believe you have misconstrued my message.  It was a simple statement of fact.  I have absolutely no plans to travel outside the country, and I know you will be relieved about that.  Italy will be there waiting for us, maybe next year.

@arizona babe :  Love your comment about "we never wanted you"; in the Summer season, we in Show Low change everything to avoid traffic, crowds at salons and restaurants.  One of our nicknames for those who live "down below" is "Citidits".  So I guess it all depends on your point of view.

I am happy these states, NJ is where I live, are doing this.  We have gone through a lot of sickness and deaths and because we quarantined and didn't open quickly we are doing better as far as numbers are concerned.  However the officials choose to enforce this I am for it.

A friend of mine was stuck at Florida and finally was able to get to her home at Maine.  She quarantined for fourteen days and it wasn't a problem, she was just glad to be home.

States have to tale whatever measures to ensure their citizens safety and I hope this can be enforced.  I'm sure they will have a plan in place as they have all along.

@willdob3 The USA is very different from a lot of the other countries.  We are larger than most, have a more diverse population, have vast areas to travel, have more freedoms, are more independent in nature, have more states rights, have a whole different attitude about life, and about the individual as opposed to MANY other countries.

And I am glad we are the way we are, I can't think of any other country I'd rather live in, and am glad to be here. It's a melting pot, it's made up of so many different people with different ideas about things.  So yes, we do have more to contend with.  And more to offer. Yes, and more misinformation and probably theatrics from the media than any other country.

Fake or not, you have to agree they play anything to the hilt.  Then they go on to the next things and we're still here and the last most critical issue is forgotten.

You can't keep people cooped up forever.  Especially when the virus doesn't seem to be deadly for most people.  People in a lot of areas just aren't terrified any more .  It is what it is. Each of us has to do what we decide to do and are able to do to be safe.
