Grands are with us this Summer and we will take them to Sedona, Bear Arizona and Phoenix. Only local trips for rest of year ( including several to L.V. and Pismo) as we have several big bills this year ( new windows and DH dental). Hopefully we can go abroad in 2022.

You do things early in the morning & take coolers to the grocery to put food in til you get home...take alot of water bottles even when out shopping.
.I worry with all the new folks that have moved here this past year, they don't understand maybe about "hot" seat belt buckles, starting the car before you put your children in them, don't touch the car door handles, etc...
I am in Queen Creek (suburb of Phx)...watching the smoke from the Telegraph fire, (near Globe, Az) ..The sky is just orange today almost...We have no monsoon's really anymore, the fires are just such a worry for many areas...

I grew up in Phoenix. You just get adapted to it. I worked and went to school. Everywhere you go there is a/c. You limit your outdoor time to early morning or after the sun sets.
Of course, now I've lived away from there for so long, I don't think I could do it again. I live in the PNW and today our high is 65.

And I was griping about the rain in the Seattle area this month. Ai-yi. I split time between the two states.

I live in Peoria...Phoenix suburb...I hate the heat and can't wait to move. Each year it does get hotter and hotter. And we get less and less rain. The heat is bad enough...but unfortunately when it gets hotter we get more deaths....children drowning in pools or being left out in cars and forgotten. I read somewhere that Arizona 's leading cause of death for children under 5 was drowning.. It just breaks my heart.
And for some stupid reason....we get the excessive heat warnings....does everyone listen...NO....we have people that still go on hikes. And then they get over come with the heat. It's 115 out side and they decide to go hiking. wonder why they had problems. And then the first responders risk their lives in this horrible heat to rescue them. Just crazy

Arizona is currently the 3rd fastest warming state. The other two are Alaska and New Mexico. I once spent a summer in Phoenix. So I know about the heat. Phoenix sits in a crater. Every time you are in low ground level, it gets very warm. (Heat rises) L.A. also sits on a crater. The summer I was there, it made it up to106F. The record is 123F (Supposedly). Everything is air conditioned. Everything. You leave your air condition house, in your air condition car to your air condition office. Mornings might be the only time you will be able to get things done outdoors. Not all of Arizona is as hot. Flagstaff is the place I would love to live, just for the weather alone. But it's extremely expensive to live there. The weather there a lot cooler then Phoenix. In Phoenix, I was warned about not touching door knobs. You could get burned. I personally think that if global warming does happen the way it could...no one would be able to live in Phoenix anymore. At least not in the summer.
