@Biftu Usually around $10 I will not return. However, we have 2 community garage sales a year. That is when I sell these items. I rarely return anything as I always wait for reviews and really research my purchases.

When I sell an item at the garage sale I can usually get 1/2 what I paid. So, if I paid $10 and it would cost me 6.95 to return, I can sell it for $5. I'm better off to sell it at the garage sale. It makes me feel good because people that buy it get a brand new item that they usually seem thrilled with. If it's over $20 I can usually give it away to recipients that are excited to receive them. I often use them as prizes for my parties. Funny, when people get things for free they love it.

My goal is purging anything I no longer want.  So as far as returns go, I don't care what the refund is, if I don't want it back it goes.  Not putting anything in my house that I don't like.  Say my refund is only $2.95, that buys me an ice tea.

If I was expecting a dollar or more refund from a return, I would send it back.

If I knew somone else could use it, and wanted it, I would just give it to them.

damaged or defective items always go back (unless QVC tells me not to return it OR gives me a partial credit to keep it.)

anything else i offer to one of my daughters or to my mother. if they want it i just give it to them. if none of them want it then if it is $10+ i send it back.

@Biftu   I really don't like taking the time to do a return and then follow up on the refund so I just take them to my local consignment shop.  I loose aliitle money but honestly I don't order much anymore.

do you decide it isn't worth returning an item?  For example, if you paid $40 for something and decide to return it, the cost to return it would be $6.95 plus the original $3.50 shipping charge.  At what price point do you decide just to keep the item?

Keep the item and do WHAT with it exactly?   Let it sit in your closet and collect dust?

Depends on why you'd return it ... wrong size .... wrong color ....  don't like it .... why would you be returning it?

Once or twice I've donated something to Goodwill, and once I sold something on Ebay, but I think it's important to return things that don't work out.  Retailers need to know what doesn't work ... and why.

I have never faced that decision. Since 95% of my online purchases are from Amazon, and the very, very few I was asked to return? Return shipping labels I printed off their website, cost me a little ink.

Some defective item I, or my wife purchased, we were told: "no need to send them back. Keep them or donate them to someone, or a charity".

Only things I have bought were from HSN, with free shipping. Those were TracFones, and all of them worked just fine.

$30 give or take a few bucks.  I'll just donate the item if it is under that amount.  Not worth the hassle of returning it.

I don't take chances when I shop so I don't return much.  I think if something is under $50, I gift it to someone.  It's usually a kitchen appliance that disappoints me and it ends up in a drawer or cabinet.

Re: At What Price Point

[ Edited ]

As long as I get at least $10.00 back it is worth it to me.   I very rarely keep something due to being too much trouble to send back.

About 8 months ago I bought a ring from the Q., my first purchase since 2011 and I adored it.  It started bending underneath my finger so I sent if back in my own package to Jewelry Repair asking if they could fix it?  I did not insure or anything, just used enough postage stamps and sent it on.  I really expected to hear nothing or see my ring ever again.  About a month ago the Q sent me and email they were going to credit my account for the ring I bought many months ago.  It was very kind and generous of them.  I did get the credit on my last A.E. statement.  You never know unless you try.
