@Puzzle Piece wrote:Why is it that folks always have to have a dirty mind when they don't have a complete truth or grasp of the world?
I went to a talk where the speaker was in his late 80's. He had a female assistant in her mid to late 20's.
A gal that was at my table said "Well, we all know what that is about, she must get very well paid to give him s*xual pleasure". I was speechless. She didn't know the speaker or the young assistant at all.
I never thought anything of the sort - nor did the team come across as romantic lovers.
I know the woman who made the remark has never had a beau, boyfriend, lover, or ever been married. She's 58 and doesn't need to be thinking such things.
how do you know she has told you everything about her life?

I'm older than 58, and I still think about and participate in such things! Might be old, but not near dead! ![]()

Assumptions as truth ;-)

Why didn't you respond to her comment by asking her exactly how she knew enough about these two people to make such a comment. I would have pinned her to the wall and insisted she explain what proof she had of this supposed relationship. Why was her comment allowed to pass unchallenged?

Ha!
Here is a short ditty:
A few years ago a retired couple in their 70s moved into a new house down the street from me.
I happened to know from the real estate agent (who was an acquaintance) that the wife had ms and they had done some renovations to the house to make it easier for her to get around. They had the same house model as me, so that's why we were talking about it to begin with.
Anyway, because the wife had ms, she was not seen much outside. The husband was always seen coming and going.
At a small neighborhood get together, several of the upstanding ladies of the street started talking about the husband. They also started talking about this "younger woman" they saw at the house a lot, coming and going.
They made a lot of remarks about an older man and a younger woman.
I saw that they didn't even realize the man was married, because they hadn't yet seen or met the wife. (remember she was pretty much housebound.)
The "younger woman" they saw was the couple's daughter!
When I told them, (after letting them chat on a bit about the younger woman/older man thing), they didn't know what to say. They just shut up. ![]()
Yes this happens. It's human nature, unfortunately.
I still don't think you have to stop thinking of certain things at 58, though. Heavens!!!!![]()

Thats right. She would never open her mouth again. Problem solved!

@Moonchilde I know more about her than I shared. You are really out in in left field to make your assumptions about me. You've always got a bone to pick with many thinking you are oh so intelligent. What a shame about you.

I agree I should have 'started something'. However, the talk began and it was not the right time to do so.
I think that's why she doesn't have any friends and why others play practical jokes on her.
By the way, the elder gentleman has since passed on.

She's old enough to know better. Remarks like that are so juvenile.

Actually she hasn't told me everything and that's okay with me. She has issues. I am not her therapist nor care to be.
Another gal shared that she's never been to a gynocologist. I have to wonder if she's ever been to a certified m.d.
