I was just reporting what the Today Show aired in their report this morning around 7:20am.
Words matter. A more accurate title would be that she has been found negligent by the court.

@cheriere Just because that's what you thought you heard doesn't mean that's what they said.

Glad she was arrested. Hope she is punished to the fullest extend of the law.
And I hope the teacher who was shot receives $$$, if she hasn't already.
Lord have mercy....

Thanks for posting the complete article which provided the facts clearly.
This original post was confusing. I do remember hearing abt this horrid incident . Sounds the parents is at fault for not securing her gun properly in a locked case and the Assistant Principal's lack of taking the warning signs seriously all contributed to this needless incident. Hope they charhe all involved parent and Assistant Principal if found guilty.

I wonder why no one thought to notify the boy's parents or call the police. The story has some holes. Why didn't the reading specialist notify the security guard or police? This could have saved the teacher from being shot. Incompetence or unwillingness to make a decision!!

I agree that all of the adults who failed to intercede to stop this shooting should be held accountable.
However, I also wonder what on earth has gone wrong, when a six-year-old child deliberately gets a gun, takes it to school, threatens other students and then shoots his teacher?
A six-year-old child??? Nothing about that is normal. Something about that is very wrong.

Well thats the thing, who would think a six year old child would have a gun and shoot someone?
I'm not defending the AP but that is not something your mind automatically goes too. She should have checked out the situation in any case. When you have several adults coming to you with a problem. You check out the problem!
And also I wonder if the parents will be held accountable? They just convicted two parents in a different older child shooting case.

What I don't understand is how a six year old can carry a gun from his house to school and no one noticed. Was he concealing the gun? The parents should be held liable because it was irresponsible of them to not pay attention to what their child was doing.

The 6-year-old’s mother, Deja Nicole Taylor, 26, was charged with felony child neglect after the boy took her gun to school that morning. She pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years behind bars.

I know. I'm thinking it must have not been a big gun. I remember a friend of mine got a gun for her birthday when she was 21. And it was this small little thing with a pearl handle. Looked more like a cosmectic trinket than a gun. But it was a gun.
