Re: Asking for Prayers...Job Interview Tomorrow

I too am job searching. I've been unemployed since Feb 24. I was essentially forced out because of what I knew was going on. I'm trying very hard to get a "state job". I have applied for two, am hoping to be called in for interviews soon. When my savings runs out I think I can make it 2 more months with credit cards. I don't have family that can help me. I've always been their help. I am praying for you to find a good position and am asking for prayers too. We are blessed in so many ways. I have a home, good vehicle, good food, clothes, shoes, and a fur baby! Still have internet and Dish so I can still watch TV and although I am getting older I still have good health.

Re: Asking for Prayers...Job Interview Tomorrow

I have been unemployed since the end of 2011. I have had one part time job that did not last. I have been looking for quite some time. I am in my 60s and know that this is part of the reason. I have had one 2nd interview and thought I would get the job but never heard back. I get phone interviews but the HR people are not competent. They have not been with the company very long ( 2 - 3 weeks) and do not have much knowledge of the company. Some of the questions are humiliating. I think they feel that I am lazy because I have not been working. It is a sad state that our economy is in. The unemployment numbers are not counting the people that have stopped looking for work because they have become so discouraged. I had one employer tell me she had 250 applicants for one job. How does one compete in this job market. The employment agencies are little or no help - they may have one job and that is all. I look everyday hoping something comes my way. I wish you the best of luck. Never give up. It is a very tough job market.

Re: Asking for Prayers...Job Interview Tomorrow

As am I... praying for each of you dear ladies and your struggles to find a job with an actual living wage.

I also agree with elated on her sad assessment of the entire situation. I have friends and relatives that have had to settle into jobs they would have never even considered before. Such as a legal secretary who now helps to manage things at an auto parts store headquarters. She had to relocate in order to find that, but she is advancing -- doing very well there now, though it's certainly not her chosen profession, or what she studied so long and hard for.

Ageism is a disgrace... Just like all those other 'isms.

Best of luck and may God go with you all.

Re: Asking for Prayers...Job Interview Tomorrow

Update: I talked to the hiring official for one of the jobs I applied for. She has reviewed all applications and selected a few she is mailing a questionnaire to. I made it through this scrutiny, she told me I am on the list for the questionnaire. When she gets them back, she will select who gets interviewed. I am grateful I made it through that selection, I am certain all the prayers made this happen. Thank and I ask please continue to pray for me and for elated!
