The job market is not happening for older people. They want cheap help and entry level people that are willing to work for less than nothing. I have found that I do not fit the employee profile they are willing to hire. Do not get depressed--keep active. If it was not for my dog that keeps me laughing I would probably be in the dumps. I have tried and tried and thought many interviews went well but to no avail. They act like they think you are qualified and then someone comes along with less experience, cheaper and younger. You are now at the bottom of the list. It is an employer's market. Keep your chin up and keep strong. You can not make people hire you. Just do your best. I keep seeing the same job ads.

In general, some employers would rather hire folks who will accept the lowest salary. They would rather have another employee train the new employee. 'Used to be' that it cost more to train and re-train, so companies preferred to keep experienced employees for thirty+ years. Not so much, anymore.

Hi everyone...I got a call earlier today for a job interview for tomorrow. I haven't had any interviews since March so I'm really anxious and nervous. Any prayers or good thoughts would really, really, really be appreciated. Thanks!!!

Hi Lynn - I had my interview yesterday afternoon. It went better than I initially anticipated since I had to really push hard out the anxiety and up my confidence level. It was a small office but the two individuals I would be working for were nice and professional (whew, what a relief). My only concern would probably be the salary. I was put on the spot near the end of it about my salary requirements. It was one of those awkward moments where I knew I could either blow it at this point or save it. They never mentioned anything related to benefits and I did not ask since I know they say never to bring up benefits on the first interview. Anyway, I gave a broad range towards salary to them. I couldn't read their faces and I honestly don't know whether the range was acceptable to them or not (and the range I gave was below my last full-time salary and experience).
So once again it's the wait and see if you get a phone call or not. I know the drill. LOL! I'm trying to stay positive and I really don't know one way or the other. The new working world (as you and so many people know) is get them cheap these days. So, I just have to wait but keep on applying. Thank you for your continued prayers and will do the same for you!
