My DH and I are on a road-trip and our stopping point tonight is a hotel in Salina, Kansas. We're pretty tired and were glad to get checked in and unpacked. Everything was fine...until I went to use the toilet.

It had been previously used and was unflushed. {#emotions_dlg.w00t}

I just about died. I called the front desk and complained politely but firmly. Long story short: we're not paying for tonight's stay. However, they didn't offer this to me; I actually had to ASK for it. {#emotions_dlg.w00t}{#emotions_dlg.w00t}{#emotions_dlg.w00t}{#emotions_dlg.w00t}{#emotions_dlg.w00t}{#emotions_dlg.w00t}{#emotions_dlg.w00t}{#emotions_dlg.w00t}{#emotions_dlg.w00t}

I'm really irked that they seemed not think of comping my room; I wonder if they were hoping that if they didn't bring it up, I would let it go. Well, I DIDN'T and asked the woman at the front desk how SHE would feel if she walked into a hotel room and found the toilet in the same state I found mine.

She kind of suked in her breath as though she suddenly realized what had really happened, and assured me we would not have to pay for our room tonight.

Moral of the story: Don't be afraid to speak up when something goes wrong and ask for what you want. Politely but firmly.
