As I was ironing...

Since ironing does not require alot of brain power my mind was wandering and it came to rest upon this question. Since we have had tax cuts for the wealthy for 10 years now if tax cuts for the wealthy stimulate the economy how did it get into this mess? Any answers?10 years ago before the tax cuts we had a balanced budget and most everyone was working.
