I had a friend a long time ago who said "hon".  No problem.  She was so sweet and it was fine.

Babe, belongs in the Sonny and Cher song.  (for me).

Being called 'hon' doesn't bother me, I've heard QVC host, Amy Stran call vendors 'hon' at times when saying goodbye to them after a presentation of their product.

It wouldn't bother me. There are worse things someone could call me.

Hon?  I don't think I've ordered too many meals or snacks in Oklahoma small town restaurants without an  "Ok Hon, I'll have that right out!" along with a smile.

What really bothers me is "As a woman."  I really dislike that phrase.  Have you ever heard some guy say "AS a MAN I really . . . "  It just sounds silly to me either way.

As a man, I tend to prefer boxers?

As a man, I want to have a beer not a Cosmo!

As a man, I would never want some tiny little dog.

My Mom is the only woman who ever called me baby, and of course I did not mind as a child or a middle age woman.  I cannot remember ever saying "babe."

Many women have used the phrase hon. to me and I like it.  Which is why I use sweetie with most everyone man or woman, young or old.  Being in Texas there are a great many endearments used even if you know the other's name.

Its not a big deal, no harm no foul.  They could call you worse names.

Absolutely not for babe by another woman or another man.

As far as hon, it depends on the context.  Sometimes it's being said sarcastically.  But I'd rather be called hon by a woman than by a man.  Most times coming from a man, it comes across as demeaning.

I've never been called babe by another woman.  I've had older woman call me hon, and I'm fine with that.

I don't like it when a man does it to me.
