Artificial Intelligence (AI) calls

Just to make folks aware:
Artificial intelligence has gotten so advanced that family/friend’s voices can now be replicated. This means that, example: you can get a call from what SOUNDS LIKE a daughter’s voice asking for money, or asking for your personal information.
I am considering coming up with a secret family “password” sent to each family through regular USPS mail to avoid the password being picked up by AI. (But I will take the secret word a step further; to lengthy to describe here.)
Another option is: if you get a call from a “family member” asking for money, immediately ask them a question only the real loved one would know.

All you have to do is call the person back to make sure it is whom you "think" you are speaking to. No secret words needed.

Yes....I have heard that is a new scam.

I am really afraid of AI since there will be no way to control it....

Don't recognize the number, don't answer it.  Simple as that.

If they leave a voice mail and you're really concerned call the family member that is supposedly asking for the money.

You could just ignore them. It's not a good idea to give money to family members.

I recommended this before... it's a powerful documentary, "FRONTLINE: In the Age of AI" (Season 2019 Episode 17 | 1h 54m 16s | aired 11/05/19).
Even though it was released in 2019, t's brimming with good information, and in my opinion it's real and practical knowledge we need to have moving forward and directly related to the topic of AI, something far more complex than I realized or could imagine before I saw this presentation.

"FRONTLINE explores the promise and perils of AI.   The documentary traces a new industrial revolution that will reshape and disrupt our lives, our jobs and our world, and allow the emergence of the surveillance society."

For those who are interested, it's available free on PBS.org and YouTube, currently.
