We got our first one today.  Next one in 3 weeks.  Pfizer.  It went like clockwork, they were excellent in how they did it, no glitches at all.

@qualitygal

That's all good to know, since I get my first one tomorrow!🤞

Re: Arm is just a little stiff with less range of motion. Day 2 post vaccination #2

Moderna Dose #1:  On Day 5 after vax, I developed "covid arm" and also sharp pain in rib and consequent trouble breathing. This was sudden and out of nowhere.  Went to ER -- small pleural effusion.  Getting a non-contrast CT scan this afternoon to evaluate the pleural effusion further.  I would not be surprised if there's a connection to the vax.  Scheduled for Dose #2 on 3/6 but I will delay it.  I may forgo it altogether unless info can be given to me as to another likely cause.

I had my first Moderna last week. I did some minor stretching during the day. I put Voltaren pain cream over the area before I went to bed. Did not notice any pain or stiffness.

Re: Arm is just a little stiff with less range of motion. Day 2 post vaccination #2

My hubby went this morning for his first vaccine (Pfizer).  He did very well and his arm is hardly sore at all.  So far so good.  In RI they are now doing 65 and over, I am not eligible until the next phase.  Wish we could have had it at the same time, since I went with him anyway.  It will be four trips instead of two now.  Hoping they start the 55 and over soon, should be mid March accoding to our local news.  His second one (which everyone seems to dread) is March 17 (St Paddy's day)........that should be a hoot.

I would wait until you get a professional opinion of your condition's cause before you 'assume' it was the vaccine.

Myself and millions of others that have received the Moderna vaccine had no such reaction and 'fear mongering' is never a good thing.

@Deree @Please update us when you find out. Hope you feel better. There are multiple cases of pleural effusion following pneumococcal vaccinations.

@ Just saw your update.  A swollen area underneath, or near, the injection site is totally normal also.  It will go away with time.

Good news @Mindy D!  Remember to do those arm circles and also lift your arm straight out from your side.  Even if it is uncomfortable.  Hopefully, it won't last for long, but exercising that arm will also help some.

@pitdakota

Does it help with the soreness?  I had thought of cold compresses.

@ECBG, yes it will help some with the soreness because it causes the muscle fibers to contract and also improves circulation to the injection site.  I would advise against cold applications because that decreases circulation which is what you don't want to do.

@pitdakota Many thanks.

@ECBG, if it helps the specific exercises we demonstrated and recommended in the vaccine clinics I did was of course doing arm circles and making at least 6 big rotations of your arm at one time.  But we also recommended flexing the arm by bending it at the elbow then move your fisted hand to your chest.  Extend your arm out horizontally until your arm is completly extended out from your body.  Repeat for a total of 6 times.

If you do that last exercise now, you can feel how it contracts the muscles in your upper arm.

Just in case that information helps. Heart

Thanks @pitdakota .  Just got my second Moderna shot a couple of hours ago and I didn't know about the second exercise.  Also good to know that I should be doing the arm circles 6 times.  I was just circling once whenever i

 thought about it.

@KingstonsMom  I had a feeling someone would talk about fear mongering after I posted but I weighed that against the importance of making people aware of the possibility in case they had a similar reaction.  Btw if you read my post, I didn't "assume" anything.

I doubt any doctor will be able to definitively say that this reaction is due to the vaccine, but all suspicious reactions should be made known.  I do not have any other medical conditions and I have been literally in isolation for the past year.  This was too blatant not to make a possible connection.  (Key Word: "possible")

Thanks @Mindy D.  I didn't know that about pneumococcal vaccines.  I have never had one or a shingles vaccine.  I am an extremely hypersensitive and hyper-reactive person so I'm sure I'm in the minority of people who have reactions to such things.
