This was started because cody2 asked me a question on an unrelated thread...

Cody, the penalty phase is winding down as we speak.

Nurmi is finishing his final (of 2) closings right now. Then it goes to the jury for deliberations.

I cannot tell you how long he will speak this am, but I would imagine it will go to the jury either before or right at their lunch time in AZ.

Nurmi is still blathering on about how it was not Jodi's fault. Anyone and everyone but Jodi is to blame.

I don't know this guy, nor any defense attorney, sleeps at night, telling so many lies to get a cold blooded murderer off.

Many defense attorneys drink themselves into a stupor or to death....

MickD, I read your post about defense attnys drinking and thought "whaa?" so I checked out the topic and found this interesting article out of Texas but is probably just as true nation wide.

The writer claims that prosecutors are more stressed. It's a good read:

Thanks for the update. There have been so many crazy twists and turns in this case.

Now we wait to see what the jury decides for Jodi's future. It's would be easy for me to say she deserves the death penalty if an eye for an eye were the criteria. But legally speaking, I don't know what the guidelines for that decision are.

I know the last jury found the crime to be especially cruel and Juan Martinez did a good job showing it was premeditated. I just wonder how much this jury buys into her mental illness and domestic violence claims.

I don't know which lawyers drink more..... but I think the taxpayers of AZ are going to drink a lot when they read the final tally of the charges for this trial!!
