I thought I remembered reports that she was seriously ill so I GOOGLED and found this from 12/8/10

According to FOX 2 News in Detroit, the legendary soul Diva Aretha Franklin, 68, is dying of pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic cancer is the same disease that killed actor Patrick Swayze.

Thank goodness it was not true.

When I first read the OP, I missed a very important part of the post which said the cancer rumor wasn't true. Thank goodness!

I saw her on a PBS White House performance a few weeks ago, along with other great female singers, & she looked absolutely fabulous! It appears that she's lost quite a lot of weight & I hope that wasn't caused by illness.

I remember she lost a significant amount of weight when it was rumored she was terribly ill.

Since then, I've seen her discuss her change in diet and exercise.

You are so right, the White House performance was fabulous.
