Fox News just reported that Buckingham Palace has just honored Aretha Franklin, with the Welsh Guards band playing "Respect".
There's no doubt that her music is loved and respected around the world, and she is recognized for the magnificent, unique artist that she was. Nice to contemplate all the richly deserved tributes.

So appropriate and well deserved.

I grew up hearing her songs on the radio, QUEEN OF SOUL, indeed she was, and still is. She is the voice of many!
Fitting tribute to a gifted performer, wish I could have been to her wake and see the procession of pink cadillacs
RIP ARETHA FRANKLIN, watching the service live, before I go to work later this evening.

I'm assuming she planned/authorized all this to happen. It's like one big last grab at the spotlight and really screams tacky, in my opinion.
@Mominohio: I know you're entitled to your opinion. I just don't think it's fair to speculate. None of us know anything for sure.
We know what we see, and it is over the top.
It borders shameful, and honestly looks like a money grab to me. Something to get the brand out there to sell more music (which happens often after an artist dies), to push ticket sales for the 'Life of...' movie(s) that will be made etc.

Our Governor stated that in the 1980's, the state of Michigan declared her voice, to be a state natural resource..I never heard of this being said about anyone else
I haven't heard that the National Guard had to be called out like Pres. Carter was forced to do when Elvis's funeral took place. Everything here seems to be peaceful and orderly
I think this funeral brings most of us closer together, in the human family, untited by loss, of a much loved Lady

I haven’t seen any of the funeral but it sounds like an amazing final act for one of the very best voices ever.

Areatha Franklin touched people's hearts all over the world!!!!!!! If you didn't like her, her music or her message that's one thing but to make cruel and insensitive comments is quite another!

The pink Cadillacs belong to Mary Kay top sellers.

@JaneMarple It's totally ignorant and indicative of what is wrong in today's society. The inability to look at the bigger picture and to embrace and enjoy the culture and traditions of others is just a sad testimony to the notion ( and often well-deserved) of an "ugly american".
