Re the report of Aretha's "talking and laughing" at this time, my dear mother was cracking jokes and laughing up until 4:00 p.m. of the day she died at 9:40 p.m.

Those with fire and spunk can sometimes muster the energy until near the end.  If you enjoy making people laugh, and you've got the bit of energy to do it, you will.  I've seen it in action.

[My mother was also in hospice care (wonderful group of people!).  We were told she had three days to live, but she died nine hours after that alert.]

I should add that the couple jokes were one-liners.  But she laughed and we laughed.

Mom was a force of nature.

Aretha...  Aretha is among the rarest of the rare.  What can I say?

Aretha Franklin's public viewing is today and tomorrow.  I just thought about that song she did with George Michael another one we lost another one of my favorites.
