@golding76  WOW!  You would think they would have just kept the whole envelope then!  😟

@LdyBugz

Wow, those packages look terrible! It’s concerning when things arrive like that!

Re: Are your packages arriving intact?

In the past year, I've had food items shipped from Amazon that arrived totally destroyed and leaking all over the outside box.  And the FedEx driver just ran up, dropped them on my porch and raced off.  No way could he not have seen the state of them and they should've been reported to Amazon as damaged - not delivered.

Luckily, Amazon was "kind enough" to offer me a "one time" refund (I supplied plenty of photos of the condition), but I'll never order those items again and take the chance on losing my money.  A second food shipment was similary damaged and I had to repackage it and take it to FedEx to get a refund.  (These were both shipped at the same time from different vendors.)

I had an order from Beekman's own website of their pasta sauce; six jars.  That arrived in dark of night (FedEx again), with one of the jars smashed to bits, broken glass everywhere and sauce soaking the outside of the box.  It nearly fell apart when I lifted it and what a mess to clean up.  (His whole truck must've reeked of tomato and garlic.)  Thankfully, Beekman is an excellent company.  Sent a replacement AND a free gift as a "sorry this happened".

I just had an order from Sam's Club that had a large 6-inch T-shaped gash right under the "Fragile - Please Handle With Care" sign!  Item inside was dented.

And the list goes on and on.  Packages are not being handled with the care they need lately.

Fortunately for me, the things I've ordered from QVC have arrived in perfect condition (inside and out).  Fingers crossed - I've just placed two orders on the free shipping day!

That's not QVC'S fault.  I had a big HSN box that arrived dented and battered but the contents were fine.  Hsn put all my purchases in one big box so everything was individually boxed.  Loved that they did that!

Re: Are your packages arriving intact?

Yes. That said, I have had an expensive item stolen somewhere along a 2 day UPS route. I blame it on the vendor who shipped the item in a flimsy envelope. I mean, you couldn't even be bothered to spring for a box?! Whatever. The vendor lost out not only on the item but on a customer going foward. Cheap *blip*.

I would complain to vendor and both UPS and USPS about how the boxes are arriving.

Re: Are your packages arriving intact?

Our recently delivered boxes from Amazon have looked like that.  The clothing items that werer shipped from Q & HSN in plastic envelopes were always a nasty mess if delivered by UPS.  They had footprints on them from being kicked and stepped on by personnel.  I noticed the same type of packages, when delivered by USPS via UPS were not marked.

I actually used to have to clean off the UPS packages prior to opening as they were so dirty.

Re: Are your packages arriving intact?

Speaking of Amazonian delivery atrocities, my worst was this:

I ordered a box of protein bars that has perforations where you open the box to reach its contents.  The time of the order was at the start of the pandemic when we (at least I) were scrubbing all surfaces to rid them of COVID-19.

The box arrived just as the worker had taken it from the shelf.  They slapped a label on it and threw it on the truck.  Not even a thin envelope came between the box, workers' hands and the slop on the floor of a truck.  I was outraged when I saw it!  Can you imagine what touched against the box that would sit on a table in my house?  One can only guess the number mucous-smeared fingers that possibly touched it.

They replaced the box for free, of course, and I threw the one they delivered into the trash.  It cost $27, by the way.

Re: Are your packages arriving intact?

After reading all the replies, I guess I can't complain.  Nothing was damaged or stolen so I lucked out compared to some of you.

For my deliveries, it seems the finger should be primarily pointed at UPS as the tracking info shows they did all the shipping and apparently man-handled the boxes.  The less damaged package was handed off to USPS though for delivery.

The vendor also has blame for the subpar packaging with that first package though, especially since it's a breakable item they are shipping.

Geez, remember that old Samsonite luggage commercial where the gorilla is smashing the suitcase around? Maybe UPS should put packages in those suitcases!  😉
