Re: Are you on the hit list?

I think if's too funny that these idiot scammers would use the word 'assasinate', like you're some sort ot political target.

I just keep getting calls from a guy in India telling me he's from the IRS (I answered ONE time and told him 'send me a letter' and hung up).

And also today I got calls like every half hour that I just hung up on without answering and then they call from another number and it's some computer generated voice telling me I must call them back or they are taking legal action.

I mean, seriously, these people aren't even good at scamming!

Re: Are you on the hit list?

I have many stories to tell and I am about had it.  I used to PLAY them but I just decided not to answer.  This time of year many of the calls are political.  And then there are scams upon scams.  My favorite is the arrest warrant. The Microsoft one has seemed to be cut back. Ransom for my grandson was another.

My home phone with Comcast only blocks  25 I believe. My cell phone a bit more but I have  MR. Number and one more I cannot remember.  My cell phone (Apple from Sprint seems to be more effective).

I got the I’m going to jail call again today but so far no knock on the door even though I am out of time according to the caller. I haven’t got all day to wait around if they are coming to take me away...haha.

Exactly.  The person who emailed and threatned to send out videos he allagedly had of me watching porn to all my contacts wanted more than that.   Still waiting to see these videos LOL.

So does this mean they know people aren't falling for the IRS and Microsoft scams so now they've moved on ...... about time! Woman LOL But they will be back with another scam.....Woman Tongue

@happycat

That is actually funny!  The spelling and phrasing are obviously composed by someone whose first language isn't English.  However, assassins can be from anywhere!

Interesting that a text message begins with "listen very carefully"!  LOL!

Glad they didn't take you out!

Re: Are you on the hit list?

A friend from England who visited me last month told me that, just prior to flying over here, she got one of these scam calls.

Her scammer said that she owed back taxes (difficult as England has Pay-As-You-Earn...and she's retired) and that, if she didn't pay immediately, a warrant would be issued for her arrest.  She admits that, at first, she was shaken, as she's totally law-abiding.

Then the scammer, when asked, identified which government agency he worked for.  And it just so happens that it was the one my friend used to work for as a civil servant!  So she asked for more information (like address, phone number, ID) and the scammer got belligerent and threatening dire consequences.  She hung up and called the police.

Fast-forward:  after her return home she got another call from the same scammer!  By the time she was done talking to him, he said that he was sending the police round and she said "Good.  I'll look forward to talking to them."  And he slammed the phone down.

The police didn't turn up, so she had to phone them to report it a second time, which in Britain makes it a criminal offense and will now be investigated as such.

The unmitigated gall of these scumbags.
