The cutie will be 3 years old soon. Parents never married. The biological father died 2 months after the cutie was born. Mama is now married to a wonderful guy who has been in the little one's life 2 years. Yesterday, the child asked, "Are you my daddy?" Man answered, "No. Your daddy is in heaven, remember?" Child said, "Yes. I forgot. When is he ever coming down here?"

Child's biological father's family is in his life. Biological daddy died from cancer at age 23 so the family is still in pain and finds comfort in the child. Family does not want to hurt them in any way. But, this kid feels like step dad is his daddy. Kid wants a daddy down here. Step father is a wonderful man and has fantastic parenting skills...he loves this kid as if it was his own flesh and blood.

Never going to adopt/change last name...but the child is wanting to call him Daddy. Calling him "step dad" does not sound right. Just wondering if anyone has experience and opinions with situations like this.
