ITA ....  If this young man has no record of assault in the U.S., I'm guessing he'd be more likely to want to have sex with her, rather than murder her.

Cameras are everywhere and his actions don't seem like someone trying to cover up a serious crime.

This happens repeatedly because they just aren't aware of what can actually happen.  Their parents protected them, as they should.

They don't know what we know.

Ribi is a lifeguard so likely a strong swimmer. He made it back to shore and passed out. Later when he awoke he was seen sunburned while returning to the hotel.

She most likely drowned.

She may never be found, so unfortunate.

Re: Are you keeping up with the missing college student in the Dominican Republic?

Riibe, according to a leaked transcript of one of his police interviews obtained by Fox News, told police that he and Konanki were struck by a strong wave and swept offshore. They battled the current, and he brought her back to land. Then he said he last saw her walking away in knee-deep water toward her belongings, as he threw up and then fell asleep on a beach chair

When he woke up, she was gone, he said.

The same resort saw four European tourists drown in one incident in January. Their remains were all recovered within 48 hours.

I'm wondering if they had K-9 search dogs at the scene.......maybe track her scent from her clothing that was found near the beach chair?

When I was young and my girlfriends, and I went drinking and partying, we always had a pact that we stayed together. No leaving with a guy or leaving the group. When you're drinking, common sense can go right out the door and you do things that you normally wouldn't do.

Re: Are you keeping up with the missing college student in the Dominican Republic?

What is astonishing, ( or not), is how many young women disappear everyday.  You just have to watch some of those shows, like Cold Justice,  and the ilk,.  Or even in your home town. Most of the time we never hear about them. Unless they are  girls with clout, money, very attractive or famous...they are little known outside  their area.  When girls as in this case are missing, it is a good time to showcase the plight of missing women.

I don't know if you all remember, but about 15 years ago my granddaughters close friend SIERRA LAMAR was missing   Never found. . I had posted on the forum. A long thread was left up a long time. QVC was very kind about it. She was 15 at the time. Coming from the inside on this horrible thing you see the long term pain, anxiety and issues people close to missing suffer.  My granddaughter still carries the fears, anxiety of that time. They did finally arrest and convict  the animal ...but he never confessed or let parents know where she was.  I don't know if there ever such a thing as closure.  Not really. Time just changes some things, but the crime you never forget. My heart truely goes out to the missing family and circle of friends

@shoekitty   I remember when you were posting about your grand daughter's missing friend. That was so sad and something that she will never forget.

I can't imagine how parents can even deal with such a thing, a horrific nightmare that you never wake up from.
