Nope. Children are adults, no grandkids. The holidays ceased being fun years ago.
Too much work hauling bins out. Just more stuff to dust. I like a pretty tree at night, howver I hate putting it up and I just look at it knowing I have to take all that stuff off and haul it back upstairs. Don't want to do one much less a forest of them in the house. More power to those that like it.
I drive by these homes that look like the Griswald house in Christmas Vacation. Every inch covered in seizure inducing blinking/flashing lights and just don't get it. When I did "do" Christmas I was a wreath on the door. A few white lights and candles in the windows. I am a less is more person.
To each his own I guess. I'm just too old to care.

I am planning on just focusing on the true meaning of Christmas for me....I have in the past when my sons lived at home got into all the decorating, baking, shopping and on and on but the last yrs in my life have brought about alot of change. Both of my parents are gone...my sons live on their own (no girlfriends/children/single) one has a dog but last time he brought the dog over he pee'd in the house and it was to much work cleaning it up....I do not want that here at all.
I already purchased 2 air fryers and gave them to 2 of my sons...as early gifts....wanted them to try them out and see if they like them. Not sure what the other son wants but that's all I plan on doing as far as gifts go.
I returned the XMas tree I purchased from Q (in July TSV) as reviews on it were bad....and I thought WHAT was I thinking buying that? Do I want to put it up? and my answer this yr so far is no.
I think if my life were different then it is now I would "feel" differently but I see a repeat of the previous yrs....and I feel down and have zero desire to put anything much up.
I plan on putting up my Nativity....that makes me so happy!! Perhaps my new red/gold ribbon on fire place....and my little plug in table top tree. That's it and for some reason it feels good to me so I am going with that.

Since my mom and both of DH's parents are gone (for 10+ years now), our holidays are very different, family-wise. We've been hosting DH's family for Thanksigiving for those years, but now that his sister is moving 3 hours away, we're preparing for our first "alone" Thanksgiving in more than 40 years! We're actually looking forward to the peacefulness of it. We will cook a turkey and our favorite sides, just less of them. We can eat when we want to, and just enjoy the day. We don't have any children.
I still put up a Christmas tree, and a nativity scene, plus a few other knick-knacks that go in the dining room & kitchen, but it's just for the two of us. We'll spend Christmas Eve morning at my brother's house with most of my family, enjoying a big breakfast and lots of laughs. Christmas Day is just us. We go to one party each year, and that is our Sunday School class party, where we have a wonderful time, sharing potluck and playing "Bad Santa". There is a different Christmas musical program at our church every Sunday night starting December 1, put on by our various choirs, plus we have a Candlelight Communion Service the Sunday before Christmas.
We buy very, very few gifts anymore, and most of those are for charity. We do give my dad, and our employees something, but that's it.
So, yes, I'm very much into the holidays...but in a quieter, less stressful way than in the past. We focus on what we believe to be the real reason for the season--the birth of Jesus!
