[RetRN]

I went to the library yesterday and picked up three books--"The Golden Cage", "Musical Chairs" and Don't Turn Around". I love the library.

@chiclet I do a lot of reading mostly on my mini IPad--which the the best ever!

But I traded in my old Kindle last week for a new one and it is a huge improvement over the one I had.  So I find I am using it more.  It is also waterproof, which might come in handy sometime!

Ours is closed, and I personally am glad that my city is taking this all very seriously.

I love the concept of a library, but I have to admit that I buy my books on Amazon, usually Very Good or Like New from highly rated sellers.

I brought back four this morning to my office on loan from a friend here at work on my floor.  Hard copy books for me no electronic devices whatsoever.  I missed the library so much during the shutdown and thankful back open to the public.  Even if no longer on Saturdays or Sundays.  You can roam to your hearts content as long as no more than 30 people are inside.

Same here, @beckyb1012, I love everything about a real book -- it's an experience I hope I will never have to do without.

While I don't go inside, our library brings out the books I put on hold. I picked up two cookbooks, a kids video and The Pines for my husband. It's a book they based a tv series on (Wayward Pines). Only 25 people can enter our library, with a half hour time limit, but I have no desire to browse the stacks with others.

We have the main library with three floors, computers & printers research specialists, children's section, large reading area with newspapers and magazines, comfortable chairs, and many other assets. The main library and all six of the branches around town were closed down. For a short while some of them were reopened with requirements for masks, distancing, etc. Now they're closed again.  I don't like reading on handheld or any devices. Will only use them if necessary.

@Tinkrbl44   Our Gov. let ours open up, limitedly.

You get a little hand held time good for one hour, and then out you go.  Masks of course.  It's a given for the most part around here.

I love the library, and miss it very much, but I'm not using it right now.

I have to admit that I was cautious before the pandemic.

Roaches and bed bugs can live in the pages and spines of books, and easily be carried into the home. I always fanned the pages outdoors and wiped the covers with disinfecting wipes before bringing them in, back in the day, but add to it the virus and I just can't bring myself to bring the books into my home right now.

I don't go into the library. The books are placed in a bin outside the front door and you simply take yours out and are on your way. You just call ahead and let them know the day and time that you would like them ready.
