I honestly have never desired to be wealthy or to be in a position of great prominence. I like blending in. We are retired on a fixed budget like most retired people. We live comfortably, but I would not say we are wealthy. Our house and both cars are paid for, are children are healthy and doing great, and we are healthy. What more could we ask for?

Frankly, I can't think of a single thing.  You are very, very lucky!!

Thank you, Lilac Tree. I am aware, though, that life can change in an instant. Hope you are doing well. Smiley Happy

Re: Are you ever envious of others?

Yes sometimes I am not because I want what they have but for some reason I start feeling badly about myself.  If that makes sense.

Re: Are you ever envious of others?

I am not envious of money or material things, although I used to be when I was younger.

There is only one thing that I really want and it is something that money can't buy.

"Are you ever envious of others?"   Heck, yes, I am!   I...

"Are you ever envious of others?"

Heck, yes, I am!

I would kill to be a kid today. They have information at their fingertips, thanks to laptops, tablets, smartphones and the Internet. Back in my day, I had to go to the library if I needed to do research; and once I was there, I had to pray the volume of the Encyclopedia Britianica that I needed wasn't already in use. And when it came time to prepare the final draft of my term paper, I wrote it out in longhand because electronic printers didn't exist. If I wanted to add graphics to my term paper, I had to cut out photos from magazines or draw the images by hand. Piecing everything together was easier said than done (glue, tape, staples, etc.).

I am not ashamed to say that I am envious of kids today. They have no idea how good they have it.

Re: Are you ever envious of others?

I used to be envious of girls with beautiful complexions. I suffered a lot with acne when I was younger. As an adult I have accepted that while my skin looks better than it did then, I will never have that beautiful complexion. Once in awhile I still see someone with such beautiful skin that I admire it, but I don't dwell on it like I used to when I was younger.

Re: Are you ever envious of others?

I agree....I miss my good health. But I try to remember that others have worse health issues or have loved ones suffering.
