Free - I don't think I've seen you in ages! ![]()

I'm not an emotional thinker like my husband. He's a very good person but, oy - can he come up with some abstract thinking based on his emotions, which causes him to make some bad decisions. Fortunately, he has come to ask me what I think about something, so as to interject some reality-based thinking into it.
But, hey, we all have our own ways and probably all have reasons for them. I was a survivor from a very young age and you can't survive if you aren't taking a realistic look around you and calculating how to best survive.
It's kind of like how animals are instinctual. I like that. They are smart that way where, as humans, we sometimes can be weak in our thinking.

You and I have that in common. In fact, I was thinking the same thing earlier. At least for you and I, it comes from having to analyze what's going on, what are the possible outcomes and what, if anything, can we do about it.
Would you agree?

I'm slightly an optimist (more or less) by nature. But, I've noticed thoughout my many years that some optimists sometimes attract people who love to be pessimists. Sort of d*vil's advocates, so to speak. Their joy of bantering/debating, etc. I've notice that only listening to them, and not responding, often works wonders. ........... Now-a-days, it's probably wise to have both traits, slightly modified, and not too extreme.

I consider myself a realist.

I am always anticipating problems and making "plan B" and even "plan C" in case of setbacks. I still think I am an optimist, because I believe in trying to solve any problems. I think it's almost always possible, if you give the problem a little thought.
As far as assuming there will be no problems, if that is optimism? That I don't. There are always problems, but almost always there are solutions, too. I guess I am a mixed type of personality.
I score really high in Problem Solving games at the Luminosity site--it's practice, over the years.

I know I would feel a lot better if I was optimistic, but I've been a pessimist since I was a child. I'm always surprised when something turns out good and even then I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.
