Around and around in circles we will go until people realize no man is an island.

Re: Are things back to normal?

Some restrictions in PA will be lifted on May 31 and resturants and other indoor venues  will be allowed to be at 100% capacity.

Masks are still mandatory.  Schools will not be up and running normally.  Still two days in school and three days from home remotely.

I don't know anything about anything......Just guessing that folks can be carrying and spreading the virus even though they themselves are protected against a severe attack to themselves.

So, wearing a mask might be beneficial for those who aren't yet fully protected.

If that makes any sense at all.

Wishing all of us well, safe, and healthy. Heart

Re: Are things back to normal?

Virtually 100% normal in NYC other than the wearing of masks in businesses and public transportation.

Times Square was bustling this afternoon, on a Tuesday.  Tourists are definitely returning but I think they are mostly domestic.

After Labor Day office building occupancy should jump.

Re: Are things back to normal?

Still far from normal. Restaurants have cut back on hours because people would rather collect unemployment instead of taking jobs. Those willing to work work are fed up with rude and impatient customers. I see stories on our local stations about the lack of good service. I still think that most customers are generally nice in the places I've shopped. DH and I are not complainers and always make a point to thank the staff in stores and restaurants.

Just my opinion but, unfortunately things will get better but will never get back to the “normal” we once knew 😢

Not normal here in the PNW.  We still have a mask mandate.  The restaurants partially open - not sure about the rules because I am not going.  Stores still have senior hours.  I am going to senior hours at Costco tomorrow.  How open we are depends on how many people are admitted to hosp with Covid.  I am thankful I live here because I feel as safe as you can under the circumstances.

Re: Are things back to normal?

I don't know if things are back to normal, but I definitely feel more normal than I did this time last year or even at the start of 2021.  My last college kid will be back in person in the Fall and DH will start going to the office halftime.

Here in the SF Bay area, my county is entering the least restrictive tier tomorrow, which means more indoor capacity for businesses and if you are fully vaccinated, no masks outside unless you are at a really crowded event.

I'm most excited about making plans to visit my elderly parents in the midwest this summer!

Re: Are things back to normal?

We're in Connecticut.  I think most (if not all) restaurants are open.  Fast food is drive-thru only.  Masks are required everywhere INside.  In restaurants, you're expected to wear a mask until you sit down at a table.  Waitresses have to keep their masks on at all times.

I am from Texas but left when our governor fully opened the state and removed the mask mandate. I did not feel safe in my hometown that has a major university. Events were packed, bars fully open, and only 25% of the residents were fully vaccinated when we decided to leave. Infection numbers are rising and deaths are beginning to increase. People refuse to wear masks and blatantly enter stores that request they do so. This is far from being normal.

According to the New York Time Covid data, infection numbers in Texas have decreased by 30% in the last two weeks. Hospitalizations and deaths have also decreased. Stick to the facts, please!  https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/us/covid-cases.html

I left there 6 weeks ago. Those were the facts that prompted us to leave taken from our city's health department site.

@On It thanks for letting us know what it was like 6 weeks ago.
