Are they closing forums because we complain

That quality has declined and prices are too high? I just don’t understand what the reason is behind it. It seems like a lot of sales are generated from forum discussions, especially beauty and fashion.

@Steffdoggy10 I know I sound like a broken record but none of us know why the forums are closing.

My opinion is they are trying to force us to join their FB page. To date, I haven't seen anyone in favor of it and have seen a few post that they checked it out and it's a big dud.

I won't be forced into joining. They can keep their FB page.

Money and demographics are the key. Forum posters are typically older, less desirable consumers. (So are Facebook users.) Other forms of social media are more highly valued than forums. And maintaining forums costs money. There are servers that need to be rented, software to buy/license, moderators to pay, etc.

They've calculated that they'll save money by killing the forums, so they kill the forums.

Where was the email or notice that the forums were closing. I guess I missed it.  You would think they would want as much feedback as possible.

@bonnielu It's posted all over these boards. The Q is not interested in our feedback. They want to force people to join their cheesy FB page. Not me.

Thank you for the explanation gardenman. That makes sense. Has anyone looked at the Facebook page that they want us to join? Very strict rules including no negativity about hosts, Where items are made, customer service, on and on. In other words, you cannot say anything negative about QVC and their Facebook forum. Go read the rules for yourself, unreal!!

Re: Are they closing forums because we complain

I just checked in after a few days and saw the discussion about the closing.  Within the these conversations I did not see the actual notice.  I tried calling customer service and I got no connection.

@Steffdoggy10 A couple of people checked it out and it got negative ratings. A big dud.

I agree, love my grandkids, I wont be joining their Facebook page either. I read their rules. Bottom line, you can only say nice things about QVC on their page

Completely agree. Forum will close because it is expensive to run. Just as you say, there are big equipment expenses, technicians to keep it running, and Moderators to keep it controlled. Big savings to get rid of all that and let FB carry the technology load.

I can only speculate, but this business decision is just a budget and resources evaluation. They know some customers will be angry or disappointed, some will join the new page on FB and some will migrate to the new Pro Boards forum just set up. QVC is a selling channel. I'm sure the forum was a nice offering to customers but cutting expenses and raising sales is a bigger priority.
