I tend to avoid people who do not seek out established facts in order to know the truth. "A mind is a terrible thing to waste."

I try and avoid "helpful" salespeople who shadow me the entire time I am in the store. They are on commission and it is obvious, but I don't need them to follow me and tell me everything that would look good on me....

I actually have DirecTV, and you think that by me saying I already have the service that they would say "thank you," and leave me alone. However, they started accusing me of lying to them just so they would leave me alone.
One day, I happened to be shopping there with my friend. As we approached the electronics and TV department where the DirecTV sales people are usually perched, I told my friend to take out her phone and start recording. We walked by them, a man said, "Excuse me," and I immediately said "I already have DirecTV." "Oh, c'mon. You're just saying that," he replied. "Really, (expletive)? (I pull out my iPhone and point to the DirecTV app installed on it.) Why would I have this DirecTV app installed on my phone if I didn't have the service," I replied. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he repeated and pleaded over and over. "The next time someone tells you they are one of your customers, you should probably believe them instead of calling them a liar, especially when they are taking a video of you," I said.
I posted the video to DirecTV's Facebook page. It was taken down, and I received an email with an apology and stating that I would be receiving 6 months free service. I never saw that guy again.
Hmm. I've had just the opposite experience. When I tell them I'm already a DirectTV customer, they thank me for being a customer and move on to someone else. They are always kind and professional, and quite friendly.

@VaBelle35 wrote:I stopped going to Giant Food because they allow people to solicit in front of their store every day. I have no problem with soliciting in front of the store, but they allow them to block the doors and you have to go through them to get in.
I wrote to Giant about this and suggested moving them back a few feet and nothing has changed.
So I changed. Now I shop at Harris Teeter.
@VaBelle35 I shop at different Giant stores in the dc area (Maryland), and never have ‘I seen anybody soliciting in front of those stores. Guess I’m lucky.

I pretend I don't hear them or see them....works every time..

I don't have a problem with the charitiable organizations in front of stores (Girl Scouts, Salvation Army, etc) the ones I encounter are not intrusive and are polite, they wait for people to approach them that want to help their cause ....(maybe the store set down certain rules and conditions)
The only people I tried to avoid are the aggressive ones at the mall kiosks....if you ignore them and keep your eyes straight ahead, they follow you, if you tell them NO--- they step in your pathway. I reported them to the mall but it didnt seem to do any good ----so I just shop elsewhere!!!

I've been told by friends that when an uninvited person enters my space and begins to badger me with some nonsense, that a look comes into my eyes that they all envy. I can't imagine what they mean.

A friend of mine calls it "my grabbing them by the throat with your eyes trick.”
