I would think on the school district's website there would be a calendar explaining the reason for any out of the ordinary closure.

@SharkE

That is what is called hearsay in a court of law. It is not allowed for that reason.

"I heard XYZ from Bob, who heard ABC from Joe". Is the witness in the court room?

Re: Are schools

[ Edited ]

Schools are not off on Halloween in my area, but Catholic schools are off on 11/1 for All Saints Day.

Schools have days off for more than just holidays. Our district has a Staff Development Day on October 31 this year.

My goodness.....we just had Indiginous People's day earlier this month, and Veteran's Day coming up in November.  Surely they wouldn't add another holiday inbetween???  Besides.....Halloween, a holiday?????  Why. I wonder, would that even be considered to be "holiday worthy"? JMHO.

@Krimpette I work in a school district and we call November- No school November b/c the second week in November the students are off for Election Day, Veterans Day and a day for teachers to write report cards and we are off the entire week for Thanksgiving.

October was just as bad.  We had to close for the primary elections, Jewish holidays and two inservice days.
