I hear the term "Friendsgiving" several times a day. Why do we have to have a different term for celebrating Thanksgiving with family or friends or both? It's about giving thanks, it's not about who is at your table. We have always considered anyone at our Thanksgiving table as family - no matter if they were family or friends or even those who had nowhere else to go. It seems to me that by using the word "Friendsgiving" you are not including those people in your family, but you like them anyway. It's Thanksgiving folks; it has nothing to do with who is at your table.

I don't mind Friendsgiving, but I'm really tired of Fri Yay.

This is the first time I'm hearing it.

The meaning remains, no matter what you name it. That's what matters (as you said).

I'm not sure why they have to distinguish between the two.

I agree with you @PA Mom-mom I can't take these invented terms. Friendsgiving, man cave along with all the other ones. There is no individuality anymore people just follow the trend.

It's popular among the 30 somethings I work with. Basically it's a get together for them with no traditional foods....well, because they don't know how to cook. 😉
I'm more tired of inspo and convo myself.

I must admit that I was unfamiliar with this concept until recently. Now that it is being commercialized, it may one day become as common as Christmas. I am going to give this fairly new unofficial "holiday" some research, before I pass judgement. It might be fun to explore.😊
