Hi, @Sooner, just saw your post & it immediately made me think of a friend I had over 30 years ago.
Whenever you asked 'How are you?', she'd reply "I'm fine! I have everything I need, and some of the things I want."
I've never forgotten her.

I'm content with the bare necessities. What can I say about that really. But I want to be happy and that's a 'need' for me so I buy stuff I want (not need) to make me happy.

I've changed over the years. I am the point where I do not need or want as much as I use to.
Purging and shopping my closets has helped as well. I also have had to clean out some family's places that passed away and so much stuff and like why. Made me think so much differently. Opened up my eyes.
I've always been good at making and keeping a budget. Kept me in line all these years.

Yes!!! I rarely shop anymore and there is nothing I "need" besides groceries.
It's amazing the $$$ I've saved not buying on QVC and shopping.
I no longer have "wants" or impulse buy it's a good feeling🙂🙂

Satisfied that I can buy what I need. The things I want are typically household related. I want a new mattress, an egress window, the list goes on. It's not necessay that I get them, but I think about those type of things. My DH doesn't even want to update his wardrobe so we're not quite on the same wavelength.

I am and my wants have changed. I used to love getting jewelry and clothes. Now I'd rather save and get something for my home. Something I can use and enjoy.

This is a good topic!
When I worked, I was terrible about buying clothes! I was never satisfied! It wasn't about what I needed at all. It was what I "wanted". I was shopping like every day. I always wanted to look nice for work and for other occasions and I hated wearing what I considered "old stuff."
After I retired, I took some time off to just kind of decompress and unwind. After that, I started going through every drawer, every nook and cranny, every storage box, every closet - you name it! I purged like you wouldn't believe!
I donated more bags and boxes of things than you an imagine!
I still have way more than I need, but I can't part with everything -- yet.
But, I certainly have to say I am way more discerning as to the meaning of want and need!
Granted, I still buy things I don't need, but it's not near as often and usually I will stop and think about a purchase and even visit an item for a period of time before I decided whether to actually buy it!

This tends to be a problem for me, personally i am not satisfied, alone too much, as far as clothing , the quality of clothing does bother me. I miss my husband, and son, shane would had been 53 today, he died at 27,i have never understood why.

@Sooner Well, if it's what I need and "not what I want"... then, yes, I am satisfied that I have everything I need. As I get older, I find I want less and I need less.
