And if you always wished for twin boys, I'll gladly throw in my brother with the same disclaimer.
pawsie,
How are the sweetest grandbabies ever?

Donna, they're sweet as sugar and growing like weeds. I told them to slow down, let me savor the moments but they run around with baby business all the time.
Hope you and yours are doing well, thanks for asking.

For a good part of his childhood, our son was an only child. When he was a toddler I had a baby girl. She only lived for a few months. For a long time, our son thought her death was his punishment for being a bad boy. He use to pray for a brother or sister.
Though my sister lived in a different part of the country, her 2 boys visited us almost every summer. Our son was happiest when they were around. My sister and her husband both died in their 40's. My nephews became "ours." Chronologically our son fell between his cousins so he had both an older and a younger brother. He and the younger nephew are closer than the 2 brothers.
Our "only" child and his wife had 5 children and are in the process of adopting another.

Almost -- for 10.5 relatively happy years I was -- always wanted a sibling but close to my age Had a brother at 10.5 -- he seemed more like my child than my brother. I did love him but my mother favored him so much I was very unhappy. She always said if I did the least thing she did not like, she was going to take him and leave me with my father -- this was the fear of my life -- actually I do think my father liked me better and she was insanely jealous about that. Only my cat seemed to still care most for me.
