Re: Are My Expectations Unreasonable

We get a lot of packages.  They usually just drop them and leave.  No ring or knock.

I wouldn't want them to.  I know when I have packages to be delivered and know about what time each type of delivery comes.

Re: Are My Expectations Unreasonable

Yes, I think you are expecting too much.

Sometimes someone knocks on the door, and leaves but, most of the time, no one does this!

My mailman certainly doesn't knock on my door!  (I give him gifts, too)

I'm not sure what giving gifts has to do with anything??

Re: Are My Expectations Unreasonable

UPS usually rings, but anyone even coming close to my house already has the dogs barking, so there is really no need. I swear my one dog can sense when the truck is coming down the street and starts "welcoming".

Re: Are My Expectations Unreasonable

Funny story.  Someone did ring my doorbell...my neighbor.  It seems we had a package delivered on Sunday, which sat on our step for hours.  I never checked the tracking number because I expected it to arrive on Monday.  Our neighbor was concerned because it looked like rain on the horizon.Woman LOL

Re: Are My Expectations Unreasonable

Years ago, a good friend of mine, drove for  UPS, part time.

They were told never to ring the bell, because of day sleepers, babies and little kids, down for naps, people working from home, not wanting to be disturbed, someone ill,  etc.

When he was new, he forgot, a few times, got a couple of real chew outs, that helped his memory!

So feel free to tell me I'm wrong, I can take it! It seems when I am expecting a package delivery no one rings the bell. I live in a private house, I have no issue with my regular UPS delivery man, he always rings the bell and waits for me to answer the door (I give him a tip at Christmas). If someone fills in for him, they don't ring the bell. My mailman (who isn't very nice, I give him a very nice tip at Christmas because I'm an idiot) doesn't ring the bell. Lasership, Fedex also don't ring the bell. I don't understand why they come up the porch, place the package and flee like a thief in the night, what would be the big deal ringing the bell, I don't even expect them to wait for me to open the door, just let me know my package is sitting on the porch?

@Jordan2   Yes, you are definitely being unreasonable.  And I doubt they fled "like a thief in the night".

Re: Are My Expectations Unreasonable

UPS always rings the door bell or knocks loud.

Amazon just leaves it....sends an email.

USPS knocks or ring bell

Fed Ex just leaves it

@Jordan2   Some households may have day sleepers and don't want the bell ring.  I put a note above my doorbell, easily seen by anyone approaching my door,. Deliveries - Please Ring the Bell.  Works well for me.

Kinda seems like common sense 101, right?

Personally, I don't want them to ring my door bell. It gets my dog all excited, lol. I prefer a text.

Re: Are My Expectations Unreasonable

Someone said what does tipping have to do with this? One would think if you tip someone, they would respond with good service. My mailman isn't well liked, I doubt come holiday time he gets tips from many on his route. I had a laptop left on my porch in the rain, it was a good thing I was home and kept checking.
