Re: Are My Expectations Unreasonable

One suggestion which might help: go to ups.youknowwhat, create an account. You can set up preferred delivery locations and also notifications to emails and/or text. If you have Alexa Echo you might be able to receive notifications this way.  I can view upcoming deliveries from Amazon on my Echo Show, and when items are delivered I hear a special sound and visual notification that my items have just arrived.

I have never had anyone knock/ring for packages.

Growing up our mailman just put the mail in the box and left.  Our mail was usually delivered around the same time everyday no need to knock. We knew when to expect it.

We get mail at the PO now, we know what time it is usually sorted and we don't go any earlier than 11:00am.

I may be wrong, @CrazyKittyLvr2, but I didn't think that anyone expects USPS to announce delivery of daily mail but packages that need to be placed at the front door. My mail carriers don't ring or knock, but I'm okay with that.

My doorbell only rings when it's Amazon, not with any other delivery service.  Not a big deal for me as they notify me when item is delivered via text or email.  Enough for me.

@Lali1, well, they could ring or knock and immediately leave. There shouldn't be contact these days anyway.

We pretty much track, so we do know when a package is delivered. My husband is also in the habit of checking our front door before he comes upstairs at night.

We get Instacart delivery every week, and I have in my instructions to ring the doorbell. This last week was the only time that happened. Oh, well. We're here for duration anyway. :-)

We know when things are delivered too. I just think in general that is why they don't knock. USPS has been doing it for over a year. Amazon knocks and FedX. Sometimes ups does but never usps anymore.

I have two (2) different UPS drivers coming from different towns. One rings the bell, the other doesn't. Same with Fed X. One does, one doesn't. Regular mail carrier. Tosses everything on the stoop and rushes back to truck. Fill-in mail carrier brings to front door, rings bell and knocks on door. And Amazon is a toss of the coin.

Re: Are My Expectations Unreasonable

I rarely have my doorbell rung when I get a dellivery. I do get an email soon after from amazon, ups and usps.

UPS here honks as he is rolling to a stop, jumps out of the truck, drops the package and yells UPS as he is running back to the truck.

I sign up for texts so I know when my delivery is here.

[ Edited ]

My delivery people throw the parcels at the door, so I get a sound effect if I am nearby.  Since my doorbell only works intermittently, I am glad to hear a "thud" on the door or the porch.  Weather in FL has been terrible. I felt awful for a delivery person who delivered a parcel in a driving rain with active lightning all around.  It was a UPS truck.

They should be able to pull over, as lightning is very dangerous where I live (lightning strike capital of the US, maybe the universe).  I was near the door, opened it and shouted--"Saying a prayer for you!  Be safe!"
