@Venezia  You're absolutely right. I've always been very careful with personal info, but definitely not in the Dark Ages. But, after being major hacked twice (once through my bank, once Amazon), I can attest to the fact that there is such a thing as justifiable paranoia.

Once someone's personal info is traveling around the world (like mine), their desire for more apps suddenly diminishes. It's a sad, growing, use at your own risk problem, destined to get worse.

@BlueFinch

My bank has had to replace a card THREE TIMES due to hacking or compromise while in use at a retailer of some sort.

Get this .... two of the times (the last two out of three) the only place the cards had been used were Target!

After that, I decided to shop at another Target.  I later read that they had problems with an "inside job".  Those cameras over every register look straight down and record the pin numbers you have just entered on the pad.   I now regularly type in pin numbers while having my other hand blocking the cameras right above my head!

And that's NOT paranoia!

I use my phone for everything just about. I don't do Apple Pay or the wallet.  If you aren't going to use your iPhone for the majority of what it can do, why have it? Then you could just have a basic flip phone or whatever they have these days.

If a person is worried about safety, you can use a two step -authorization to get to your account.

You do not need to store credit card information with an account.

I use a password locker that needs a fingerprint to access.

Android Google has some excellent security features where you can wipe a phone or tablet remotely.

@Tinkrbl44 What's stupid is commenting on someone's opinion about how they live their own life, then go on to give an example of hacking that has nothing to do with cell phone use. One thing's for sure, a hit dog will holler.🙄

Who said everyone has an iPhone?  I have a smart phone but it's not an iPhone and they don't make flip phones anymore unless you are using one of the off the beaten track carriers that they advertise for senior citizens.

@CelticCrafter,  that is absolutely NOT true.  Currently Samsung and Motorola have the highest rated flip/foldable phones.  Apple is expected to introduce a flip/foldable in 2024.

Flip phones are regaining popularity and February is "flip phone challenge" month.

"A hit dog will holler"?    Does ANYONE know what this has to do with cell phones and apps?

Re: Apps and Your Personal Accounts

@Tinkrbl44,  generally speaking a "hit dog will holler" is the equivalent of striking a nerve.

I think the intent of the phrase in this instance has to do with the posts/posters that are not directly responsive to the original subject.

That is as far as I'll go with my interpretation of the intent.
