It clearly became a very major issue internally as well as for recipients of the email if the QVC President was compelled to issue the apology so quickly.
I suspect QVC employees expressed concern and it was rapidly escalated to the President.
So many "new" posters on several threads about this incident. Some just registered today. Normally it's no big deal, but very odd and interesting today!
I noticed that also.
Come on, be brave. If you are moved to post your opinion, for heaven's sake, OWN IT.

@rockygems123. I'm finished with the discussion. Enough has been said.

I was unaware of the entire situation as I opted out of QVC emails awhile ago.
That being said, now that I fully understand, thanks to posters here, I am appalled that the phrases were used. QVC did the right thing apologizing.
If you are not offended now that we understand, please open your heart, it's not much ado about nothing. I am not an Asian woman but that doesn't matter. Wrong is wrong!

NO. Clearly this is a needed learning experience for some.

I have to disagree. For QVC to issue an apology, more than handful of people had to complain.
I think more people understood the slur than not. Even if Ami wasn't Asian, the comment on the original email was wrong.
Just like the N word, there is no place for society for a corporation to use this type of language.
It was probably sent by a dumb airhead employee who heard this phrase before and had no idea it was controversial, but the employee would not have been a person on the bottom of the barrel.
It was someone who was trusted and paid to be the voice of QVC. I doubt it was done to be hurtful, but it still doesn't make it right.
. . .

I'm going with the "dumb airhead" employee excuse.
The employee had most likely heard the expression at some point and, without any context, thought it sounded "cute."

DH is Asian, I'm not. Our children are bi-racial. This wouldn't have bothered any of them in the slightest way. There are much bigger fish to fry.
