I was reading another post today and started thinking how fortunate I feel being able to go to college. I learned so much about history and art there. I can't believe that I actually go to go, thinking back on everything.
I'm thankful for those professors because all my life books and learning things has been my passion.
And I'm thankful to Julia Child mostly for my love of and interest in cooking. I'd still be making goulash (incorrectly! LOL!!!) and Swiss steak and meatloaf only if it weren't for her influence.
So what things to you look back on that surprisingly shaped who you are so much or added much to your life?
It's a good day for reflection and thanks it seems to me!

@Sooner.......I am thankful for so much. Thankful for those in my family that took my sister and I into their lives when we our mother left our father and us. They were always there for us....especially Grandma..... I miss her so much. Our father did the best he could, and I miss him so much too.
Am thankful for the doctors and others that have been taking care of me during a very rough time in my life. Yes, there have been times when I didn't think I would make it this far..... Have had those thoughts many times, but I'm still here. And will continue the battle. Have so much I still want to do.
Am thankful for the many folks on here that have kept me going with their prayers and good thoughts. It has made me realize that the CHRISTMAS SPIRIT is very much alive here.
None of this is unusual, but do believe it has all made me a better person.

Was able to go to college, too. Only one in my family and on my own dime. People told me to forget it, you'll never do it. It only fired me up to go on to graduate.
Fortunate to put my chilhood circumstances behind me.
Lately, I've had gratitude for those who dumped me in my worst times and ran away. Not that I didn't cry a few tears but I developed the fortitude to move on and not let temporary circumstances dictate one's entire life.

Thankful no one is missing at my table this year. My parents and older relatives are getting to an age where you just don't know and I know so many are missing loved ones today. My heart goes out to you.

@Sooner Interesting that you asked..... Just this morning when I was standing out in the back yard waiting for the dogs to DO THEIR BUSINESS.... I was admiring my new cedar fence that we put in to replace the old worn out fence last March.... It looks SO NICE and I now do not worry about the dogs escaping from the yard anymore...
I just gave a thanks to the powers that be for my lovely safe strong fence. I guess that is unusual.... ![]()

@SeaMaiden Sometimes it is those "little things" (that often aren't so little) that help us find peace isn't it? We have a new fence too, so I share your happiness in that! ![]()
Blessings come in all sizes, but thankfulness is always big!

Everyday I'm thankful for many things. But one thing that I am extremely thankful for is the strength my mother showed me and how that has helped carry me through my entire life. I would not be the person I am today if it wasn't for that. "Merry Christmas" Mom in Heaven and I miss you dearly.![]()

Nothing unusual but a day to reflect on the love and blessings I have every single day. I love the Christmas spirit today and every day. I am thankful for the many, many things I have learned on many of these forums pages. There are so many wonderful people that post here. Love, joy, sharing and caring. Merry Christmas!
