Re: Anyone watching American idol?

I always wonder why everyone and their Mother thinks they can sing?{#emotions_dlg.blink} Or that they have some spectacular talent.... I just do not get these shows. Then the shots of the judges with JLO wiggling in her seat... getting her "goose's" on as she puts it...I think it is more about the judges, what they wear and such than any talent at all.

Jena is my favorite.

Sadly, I think CJ needs to go. He always sounds off to me; so it's either his voice or my ears.{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Re: Anyone watching American idol?

Alex and Jena are my favorites. I could see going to one of their concerts or getting their music. CJ seems like a sweet guy but he can't really hold a note. Jessica annoys me for some reason, maybe it's her style of singing. When she did "Jolene" last night she seemed like she couldn't wait to get it over with. Thought her first song was much better. Sam also seems really sweet and he has improved; maybe a contender but not sure. Caleb obviously has talent, if you go for that sound. My prediction for the top 3 are Caleb, Jena and Alex. Prediction for bottom 2 tonight are CJ and Jess. (I've been wrong before!!!{#emotions_dlg.laugh}) Might be a "shocker" again!! More drama!!

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

I am loving it this year. I love the judges especially Harry. I couldn't watch the train wreck last year. So it's nice to be watching it again. CALEB all the way!!!! There are some great singers on this year but they pale in comparison to Caleb. He is an amazing talent!! GO CALEB!!!!!!

I am 100% in agreement with you except I love all the judges pretty equally. I think Harry is the sensible one because I think Jennifer and Keith would have used that save the first week since they seem to want to save everyone. Luckily Harry seems to be more grounded in wanting to hold out for someone he thinks might really stand a chance at winning. But I love all 3 judges. I skipped last year because of the train wreck too so I am happy to get to watch again. And I also am rooting for Caleb all the way. He's definitely a rocker and he does it well. If you don't love rock, you probably would see it as screaming but I love it and I think Caleb is a great talent. I don't hear screaming at all, I hear singing the way rockers sing. I don't know if he will win just because it can get unpredictable but he's my favorite. Time will tell but I'm enjoying it this year.

He is a one-note wonder. Even when he was supposed to be doing a country song last night (one of Carrie Underwood's), he just had to scream it. Keith very quietly said after that performance, "I can't wait until he does a country song."

Yes, screaming and running around the stage, including falling on the floor is not my idea of entertainment. He will win, but I will buy Sam's and Alex's albums.

Just remember, Clay Aiken, Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry, Kellie Pickler, Bucky Covington and Adam Lambert didn't win either . . . and nobody (with the exception of Carrie Underwood) can remember who won those years.

Ford, I consider you my friend on these boards, even though we have not spoken in some time. But you and I just apparently do not agree on music and definitely not Caleb. I love rock music, always have, always will. That "screaming" is singing to me. Caleb is the one who has the most talent on this show IMO. Everyone else last night sounded like contestants on a reality music show (which it is) but Caleb sounded like a seasoned professional. He is really good and definitely not a one-note wonder. Country is clearly not his thing but he still did well with it. The first song though, he blew it out of the water. I wish that's the one they ended on because he should have closed the show with that one. He is the only one who's music I would buy. I like Jena but would not likely buy her stuff. Sam bores me to tears, as does CJ (who seems like the sweetest guy, but that's not what this is about). I do like Alex, I like his quirkiness, but not sure he's capable of winning. I also like Jessica as a singer but there is something unlikeable about her that makes you not root for her. I think it will be between Caleb and Jena and probably Jena will win (she seems to be gaining momentum), but Caleb will be the successful one as so often happens.

If it's your ears, it's mine too. I think CJ is such a sweetheart and I am happy for his success so far, but I do not understand how he is still there. His songs never sound right. It's definitely time for him to go.

I won't be buying anyone's music but Caleb is clearly the frontrunner.

Qgirl, I agree with everything you said about each contestant. Caleb is hardly a one-note wonder. His talent as a rock singer is incredible. Keith's remark about him singing country was just silly because no one should expect a singer who is rock 100% through and through to perform a country song (or a country singer to perform hard rock successfully for that matter). AI just has to have this format in order to be entertaining. Obviously, Caleb will never be singing a country song in concert or on one of his albums, lol.

Jena also has incredible talent and does amazing things with her voice. I personally prefer men's voices in general to female voices. Female voices on high notes just bother my ears but there is no denying her talent. The competition is between those two.

If Sam weren't as cute as he is, he'd be gone by now. It is definitely CJ's turn to leave however. One can be sympathetic to his down to earth and heartfelt performances for so long. Alex will have his following. He's good. Jessica? I don't know what to make of her. Agree that there's just something about her that's not too likeable but this season, I feel like I don't care at all about any of them personally. Is that because in previous seasons we got to know the contestants so much better? This season's background seems to have been only silly stuff.

I honestly don't know how he got into the Top 40 or whatever it is. Shows a lack of talent on all three of the judges imo.

I've always liked "soft rock," never liked the hard rock scene. I really do try to listen to him sing, but I can't get past the first minute. He hurts my ears.

So . . . can we still be friends?

Re: Anyone watching American idol?

My guess is that CJ will be the one that leaves tonight. I think both Jena and Jess stepped up to the plate and delivered last night, I think Jess shows the most improvement. I think Caleb might win, but then I think the girls could be tough to beat also.
