Anyone tracing their Family Tree?

I have been working close to 25 years...on and off...on my family tree and just recently got into it more extensively.

I found that I am a direct decendant of a quit famous Indian chief and one trail leads me to one ancestor being the brother of Pocahontas...which I doubt. But I do have it back 9 generations to 1610 when he first arrived from London England.

One distant relative left home at age 20, the day after his mother died , said he was joining the service (Army, I think) and was never heard from again.

I would like to find out what happened to him but only have his name..need to check deeper for more info...hoping my retiires Army friend can help me try to get in contact with the right people.

what about you all? anyone working on your family genealogy??? Fining anything shocking?
