Have you noticed how fast the energy companies handle taking care of the people involved. Which is a good and right thing they do.
Security will protect the homes.
This is a VERY dangerous job for the men and women working on the slant drilling rig to close this down.
I wish them good thoughts of protection.

Really?.How fast the energy companies take care of people involved?..They were ordered finally by city a month after the leak was discovered to relocate people per this article below and from what i am hearing they still have many many more to relocate still 2 months after discovered leak..Many did not wait and got hotels on there own.

It takes time to find a relocation place to handle that many families.
The oil and gas companies go out into the mountains to find energy for everyone. Some times they are there for 30-50 years before someone wants that land.
And along comes the masses and they want to build on that land. To build homes to sell. The buyers are told that the oil and gas companies are located there. Everyone buying said it was OK with them.
But in a few years they all start to complain about the oil and gas company. And they want them to move and shut down.
This happens every single time. Every time. Every time.
Who was there first?

Yes, I live near the area. I've lived here all my life. That oil/gas Company has been there years before the developers went in and put up over priced housing. Getty oil. Not the first time there has been a problem up there, but they've done well in keeping things under control. In the 197-'s a fire was coming out of one of the rigs and they called in Red Adair from Texas to put it out.
I believe that the DEVELOPERS are the one's to go after, not the oil/gas company. They sold homes in the area knowing there might one day be issues with the goings on there. Nothing is ever guaranteed. Also, because it's considered an upscale community, buyers pushed and shoved to invest and get their greedy equity out of the homes which are just standard tract homes. Maybe in the future they will buy after they do their research. Most of them are transplants and immigrants. We natives know better.

I agree Love Roses about the developers... and also the home buyers... they should also be held accountable.
In the beginning the storage area was for oil and later turned into storage area for gas. It has been there for around 50 years and never a problem. Until massive amounts of homes was built on that land around the storage gas area. The casings (pipes) came apart because of the earth movement. The amount of homes would put pressure on the land and cause damage to the casings.

I live in Porter Ranch. I'm more on the edge of what is happening but people have started to move out too. I frankly smell nothing but some of my neighbors do. It's supposed to be like this till April. The gas co had to drill 8000 ft underground and bypass the leaky pipe. Thanks for your concern. I wanted to add that my home was totaled in the Northridge earthquake and we had to relocate. What bothers me the most are the ambulance chasing attorneys.

Ordinarily, I would agree about the ambulance chasers ..... HOWEVER, there should be a class action lawsuit paying damages for the lengthy disruption .... and what about weird illnesses that will surely develop in the future?

@Tinkrbl44 Read my post. We are to be looking out for ourselves at all times. Given the opportunity, I wouldn't live in that area. The wind is tremedous, those oil/gass lines are well known to those of us who grew up here. Why would I just go on and buy a home in such a precarious area?

@evelyner Sorry for your experiences. We didn't loose our home but it was pretty damaged. We did lose some things inside.
