Anthem is the newer section of Henderson and at the south end of the strip on the east side. Pictures of the strip from there would be appreciated if you have them. Thanks.
No pics from me, sorry - and no view from my house either - guess we are in the cheap seats LOL!! I do get a nice view as I drive through Anthem on my way home from work, though!! And went to a restaurant in Henderson a few weeks ago that had a nice view as well.

Thanks all, great pics!
I didn't know Henderson area was so close to Vegas, I will have to google map it so I can see the miles distance
I might be moving sooner than I thought, my husband lost his 20 year job today....he had no clue this was coming....we are both in shock & have a lot to figure out....no pay, pension, severance or insurance after the end of March...ugh
but also have an elderly mother that will not move, double ugh

Oh my gosh--how awful!
You both need to sit down and breathe. You must be in shock! I hope things turn around for you again real soon.

We have relatives in Summerlin. DH and I used to go to Vegas every year, sometimes twice a year for vacation. We also would go back and forth to Scottsdale, Az. as my folks had a condo there.
When we decided we were going to do the snowbird thing back in 2008, we really were serious about Summerlin. We worked with an agent and originally looked at the original Sun City. YIKES! Can you say old and dated? Then, there were many foreclosures so, we were leery of streets that were half empty.
Bottom line, we ended up in a Del Webb community in the S.E. Valley of Arizona. Mostly, because my brother is a few streets away. It is a 55+ and older and they are all homes, no condos or townhomes. We bought in the fall of 2009 and the prices had about hit bottom (though the original prices were over-inflated).
Vegas is more of a transient town although they do not tax pensions in Nevada. We are very happy with the choice we made.

Some good thing about Nevada: no income tax or exempt pensions and Social Security income, and that also have low property and sales taxes.

Thanks Azcowgirl, This is going to be a tough ride, have no idea where we will land, so many variables
I have my mother to consider...only one sister local left & she doesn't have anything to do with any of us (she's a jerk), so she is no help
I want to move to where it is warm, love Arizona, but first we will try to stay local, them try the neighboring cities & if nothing, we move out of state
Were you able to find employment local when this happened to you?
My husband has to start anew at 56 & I may have to go back to work, a thought I am dreading LOL

P.S.( I have a sister like that also....disappeared and left me to be the only one that could care for my elderly parents )On 3/14/2015 Azcowgirl said: ANNMARIE......I'm so sorry to hear your DH suddenly lost his job !
