Our sewing group just made a bunch of them, we donate to groups with Alzheimers, etc. They are soft and easy for them to handle.  Only mine (instructions) were given to me. You'll just have to research it.  Look up Twiddle Muffs, and some may come up, to go with those.  Good luck.

Lion Brand Yarn has quite a few variations of it Plus a lot of great knitting and crocheting patterns many for free
